The easiest chains to put on!
I fell in love with these chains when I first bought a pair on a whim for my Dodge Ram 2500 several years ago. I had (and still do) used the Super Z line on some of my vehicles which are great cables, but these chains are so much easier to put on and they have become my go to whenever I purchase a new vehicle. The auto-trac system could not be easier to use. You simply flip up the ratcheting levers, wrap the chain around your tire, connect the ends together, and flip down the ratcheting lever. Done. The chains self tighten after a couple tire revolutions. There is a laminated sheet explaining the whole process with easy to see pictures. The traction seems equal to, if not slightly better than that of my Z series cables. I can not speak to heavy use and long-term durability as we only use chains a couple times a year in our southern California mountains, but they seem well made and have never failed me. They are more expensive than some plain tire chains, but the ease of use pays off when you need to install them on the side of the road quickly.

MUST READ MY REVIEW!!!!!!!
I think this is a outstanding product it really only takes a couple minutes to put on you don't even have to move your car and they make your car a tank it just a breeze right through the snow but this is the important part when I want to take them off one of the four self-tighteners froze on wide open and I had to use bungee cords for the Second Use thinking it was broke I was going to send them in and decided to try that maybe grease it up a little bit and who wanted a couple times to try to break it free it worked so I just greased them all strongly recommend greasing them with something it would have been cool if they put a grease fitting on them but after greasing them no problem I live down a two mile long Gravel Road Kentucky that doesn't get salted or they can't get plowed so for the last 3 weeks I've been using them to get in and out of my road other than the hiccup in the beginning they're wonderful make sure you grease them with something and keep the wires for the self-tighteners clean or they will lock up on you

Prepare. One broke, but they work great and Peerless is sending me a replacement
I bought these after Atlanta's first winter "event" in 2014, and got them just in time for our second "event." The chains are pretty easy to put on, but definitely give it a try first without snow. They worked great, but after about 200 feet, on one tire both of the plastic attachments at the end of the cables that clip onto the other side broke. I contacted Peerless and they are immediately sending me a replacement set of chains, so excellent service. I was able to zip tie that chain back together, and they worked great in the combination ice and snow that we got here. Trucks were doing doughnuts around each other, and I was driving fine. I have a 2005 PT Cruiser, and these chains fit OK. They should also fit my wife's 2005 Matrix, but I went with the Autosock for her because I don't expect her to deal with the chains, dirt, and possible repairs. If that fastener breaks, a couple zip ties worked OK, and you can probably fab up a better fix. Peerless also included a bag, plastic instructions you can use as a groundsheet, and some replacement links. If you're using these, bring a Leatherman or a few basic tools, and some strong zip ties. You should be OK. Nov. 6, 2014 follow up: the chains fit great as advertised and are relatively easy to put on. They improve traction enormously.

Fit and ease of installation
The model 0155505 fits my 225/65R17 m+s tires well. Installation was very easy. I may never have the need to use them in the snow, so no comment on that aspect. I put one of the set in a separate plastic bag inside the container so the two sets don’t tangle.

I do not recommend these. Bad latch design.
I've seen other reviews, where it was clear the company doesn't stand behind this product, if something goes wrong with the retraction mechanism. So I took that into account, and have two sets, when I don't necessarily need all four installed. If one fails, I can just run with chains only on the drive wheels. The model for my tire size (215/75r15 on a 99 GMC Safari van) was for some reason only fifty per set, so getting two pairs wasn't a big deal. Then I carefully prepped the retraction mechanisms on all four chains (two retractors on each chain assembly) with a bit of fancy lubricant oil, hoping to keep them working smoothly, both extending and retracting. I also put a drop of the oil on the hinges of the red plastic latch that switches it between retracting/locked and extending. So that the red latch would be less likely to get stuck in the cold. But that wasn't the problem I ran into when I needed to use one of the chains. The red half-circle latch has a teeny-tiny little nubbin of plastic on the shoulder that lets you release it from the folding position and allow the wire to be pulled out. On one of the two retractors, that teeny-tiny little nubbin of plastic had somehow broken off. No idea how. And because the red latch has its own little detente under the hook that keeps it from easily flipping up and letting the wire feed out (still under lots of tension, just not locked in place), it is extraordinarily difficult to get that latch to flip up if that little teeny-tiny nubbin of plastic is gone. There isn't even a good spot to put a flat-head screwdriver under the latch and open it. It's all flush with no real gaps, so without that tiny nub... So I'm sitting there in the snow (with a nice thick knee pad, fortunately, highly recommended), and I finally had to press one of the chain links (made of square steel rod, so it has edges) into what little remained of the plastic nub that used to be there, and managed to open the red latch and attach the top retractor wire to its hook. Absolutely terrible, delicate design flaw that makes it very difficult to use the chains. We still have snow right now, so I haven't tried to get the chains off yet. But when I do, I'll have to use a pocket knife or some kind of sharp screwdriver or other tool to pry that latch open, because the chain is taut now so that won't be an option to use as a makeshift tool. Fingernails would not accomplish the job, even if I want to take a glove off and try it. That latch really doesn't want to open even under perfect circumstances. Years before I had purchased some of these in a different size, and the design is exactly the same now, on the new ones. That tells me there is zero chance this company is ever going to fix the design flaw with the latch tab. Because fixing the design would cost money. I liked the design previously, which is why I got some new ones, but now that I've seen how delicate that little tab is, I can't recommend this product at all. That is simply a fundamental flaw. There are other brands of chains that use an almost identical retractor mechanism, and the plastic-tube-encased wire that makes it easy to feed the chains behind the tire when putting them on. Basically knock-offs, probably. But the retractor mechanism used by some of the other brands I've seen use nice big push buttons to engage the retraction & locking, and also to release the locking. Push buttons, unless they get locked up internally from grit or something, are going to probably be much more durable than the red latch on this product. Some of the other chains also only have a single retractor per tire, which would be easier/faster to deal with when installing the chains. I won't be buying these again, myself. Unless the latch mechanism is completely redesigned, which I am certain it will never be. The chain portion itself is nice, providing plenty of traction, with the crisscrossing arrangement. It's the design of the retractor mechanism's latch that lets it down. Fiddling with that little red latch that doesn't want to come loose, when it's snowing and my hands are freezing even while wearing rubber gloves with liners, is not my idea of a good time. I'm so upset with these I'll probably get one of the alternate brand chains to try the push-button style retractors and see how they hold up.

used to use the old fashion chains that look like a ladder you stretch out on the ground and back up over. These chains are so fast to install and work well. I questioned how well they work being the links are smaller than the old style chains. I have used them on a work pickup and in deep snow had to keep the tires spinning to get up a snow covered dirt road had a huge rooster tail behind the truck of snow they never came off and got me thru 2 feet of snow ...2WD truck.... without any trouble. recommend them... and I don't store them in the bag they came in i keep them laid out flat in the back of my truck bed as if they tangle up it is really tough to get them untangled.

Relativamente facil de instalar, se ajustan automáticamente, pensé que se sentirían más vibrasiciones al manejar pero realmente apenas y se sienten si se maneja al límite adecuado. Muy recomendables

Although I haven't installed it in this snow season (as no snow on the road), I have practised several times to install it , easy to learn and only take few minutes to get the job done.
