great product to differentiate gemstones. you should have some basic knowledge to use this tester. The item arrive with the box a bit dented and the item did not work correctly. I reported it to the seller who was very communicative. A new item was shipped out immediately and works good. great seller and great communication. thank you.

DO NOT PURCHASE!! The unit that I received was completely non functional right away, it never even calibrated correctly. And now the company will not honor even a return becaise I no longer have the box, they have ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE and they will straight up take your money and ignore you. FOUR THUMBS DOWN 👎👎👎👎

I had a different model than this one two of them actually. They didn’t work worth a damn. This one you can at least calibrate yourself. And it’s very easy. Other machine you couldn’t calibrated couldn’t do anything. So you really couldn’t trust it. You have to watch your calibration closely though it varies from each time that you turn it on. It’s a little bit of a pain but it’s better than the other other one I had. That one you could not calibrate it all. So I’m pretty happy with this machine

We're jewellry resellers and this was the first "big" purchase for our business. We're thrilled by how accurate it is. Most days it's very easy to use. However... the ambient temperature in the office has to be at the very least 72 degrees for it to warm up. While to automatic shut off is a nice feature it does work kind of quickly. This tester has paid for itself many times since we purchased it.

After having this product for some time, it does not always want to read accurately. I try to recalibrate it so many times and it still is very sensitive. Might as well spend the money on the better unit

Gotta say...we purchased the Presidium tester and it came non calibrated and worked for about 3 days. We are now returning it. The Smartpro arrived today which we were able to test and it worked out of the box! You can see by the photo to that there is a major difference in quality and size. It also has a fantastic little manual for which the other unit does not. So, we will test with it for awhile and give it a go. I will update this review if we end up having to return it as well.

There was no instruction book. Looked really used.

I like this machine a lot, I use it all the time. But it's not for the novice. You need to have a good gemstone knowledge before using this. It doesn't tell you the exact gemstones and very little gemstones are listed. But if you know the hardness of the gemstones or use a gemstone book. You can definitely tell the difference of the gemstones. It can tell you the difference of Blue Topaz and Aquamarine. The difference of Rhodolite garnet Pink tourmaline and Pink Spinel. Just because I know the hardness. Just like any tools you need to know what you're doing with it.

I own a jewelry store and use it to test stones that I buy. I also use it to test for the customers. I like how easy it is to use. It does need to be calibrated with each use, but that is not too much of a big deal once you get use to it.
