From outside to outside the glass measures 4 5/8 (four and five eighths) inches. The actual glass is about 1/8 inch thick. The inside glass dimension from inside to inside is 4 3/8 (four and three eighths) inches.

May I heat these vases in a microwave or sit them in hot water? I have wax from a candle in them. I can’t remove it by hand.

I don’t think I’d microwave then, but you can definitely fill with scalding water. I have heard that if you put the wax in the freezer, they will be easy to remove from the vase.

Does the top turn black while the candle burns?

I don’t use it for candles. I use it for sea shells.

Are these heavy enough to not tip over?

Yes!! They are the weight of a real vase. Solid.
