If your closet door is 'builder grade'...meaning hollow, maybe not. The loop portion of the hasp has to be screwed into something solid or it won't hold.

Came with screws required for fitting, easy to install, and coupled with a decent padlock, has secured my shed nicely. No signs of rust yet and no issues whatsoever.
