Greenlee 701K-G is a great toner
I used to owned a Greelee toner but someone jacked it while on the job site. I couldn't locate one, so I went to Fry's and got a Fluke and the toner sound is horrible, hard to distinguish whether a tone or no tone. I found this Greelee on amazon for less than I paid for the Fluke. I placed my order and as soon as it arrived, I installed the batteries and started using it immediately. So far It's been working great and easy to distinguish the tone.

High Quality Toner With Loud and Clear Tones
This toner worked perfectly and gave me loud and clear tones to determine and identify my circuit components. Do not use on a hot circuit. Without this item, I would have had a very difficult time identifying numerous wires I was working on. Highly recommended for those working on their own electrical issues

Get the cheap on or build your own. Horrible packaging and description.
Ok fine, but sheesh, $90 for this? Just hook up an amplifier with a Def Lepard drum track to a wire connector and forget the 'signal generator'. Nice that it's all self-contained, but my biggest complaint is the price and that there are literally 40 pages of instructions, 39.5 of which are useless, and 0.5 of them that are misleading and uninformative. Come the hell on, people, this takes about 30 seconds to learn how to use, we don't need 40 pages of nonsense. Also, why not include batteries? I almost returned this right after I tried it because I had put in a bad new battery, but it still made noise. Seems like a no-brainer to include a $2 battery to avoid the hassle of complaints and returns, not to mention making it muuuuch easier for users, since 9V batteries are pretty uncommon these days. And of course they don't specify in the product description what battery this thing takes, so I had to take a trip to the store to pick up a couple batteries, then go back again to replace the bad one. I'll probably return this simply because the manufacturer and packager is so inconsiderate and thoughtless.

Great product that works as designed
Great product that works as designed. Use this nearly daily troubleshooting witing in the fire alarm and structured cabling fields. Had a few bumps and bruises along the way, but still works strong. The small LED light in the wand is very handy in darker spots such as patch panels. Just make sure to carry a spare battery for the tone generator, as the switch can sometimes get turned in in pouch and render it inoperable at a bad time.

Great. Always ground black wire when toning network cable
This is one of the best toner/probe kits. I have this and a Triplett Fox and Hound. Theyre more or less equal. The Greenlees streignth is the probe. Its super accurate, loud and great at filtering 66hz noise. My only thing is you must always ground the black wire when toning cat5e/cat6 network cable. There are alot of dirt cheap toner/probe kits below $25 now. Ive used them and theyre almost all either weak, staticy, inconsisstant, or blast crossralk everywhere. They cant hold a candle to this. This is a percise tool and the probe will find the right wire clearly, loudly, and without hardly any crossralk. You know the wire with tone is rhe right wire with this. Thats why its priced so much higher. Its a percise professional tool and worth the price. Ps you will see alot of cheap noname knockoffs of this kit on amazon and ebay. DO NOT BUY THEM! i tried one and it was nothing but screeching from the probe.

If you a looking for a quality probe, skip this.
I have had issues with my Greenlee probe not working well since the day I got it. The probe barely reads just about any type of network cable I hook it up to. The toner itself works great. Unfortunately since the probe sucks, I am reduced to using another $27 complete network scanner/toner/probe assembly which I have taken a picture of next to my Greenlee. It's called the Tacklife CT01 and it's sold here on Amazon. My Greenlee probe just sits, meanwhile I use what probably equates to a $5 Probe that works way better. I wasn't doing a lot of network jobs when I first bought the Greenlee, so it wasn't that pressing and I figured that I would reach out to the company later. Now that I am doing a lot more networking jobs I would like to be using the Greenlee toner that I paid a lot extra for the quality. I reached out to Greenlee, sent them this picture, along with my receipt, and pretty much exactly what I wrote in here. I received a lack luster 5 second response which told me I was outside my warranty period, which I never used because I stopped using the Probe right after I got it. Long story short, skip this product and skip Greenlee. I was getting ready to buy a set of Greenlee quick change flexible extended drill bits, but certainly won't be buying their brand now.

Nice and Loud Probe, but Not the Best Tone Transmitter
I'm glad I bought this, because I already had bought the Sperry ET64220, and I was unhappy with the probe that comes with the Sperry. It's not easy to keep holding down the very small button on the Sperry probe when searching for a hidden cable, and the tone volume is so low it's not as good as the Greenlee for hidden or shielded wires. The probe with the Greenlee is much better. It is more sensitive, easier to press and hold the button, and the red LED tone indicator actually works as it should. However, the Tone Transmitter in the Sperry ET220 kit is way stronger, so I'm glad I bought that too. By far the best combination is the Sperry ET64220 Tone Transmitter used with the Greenlee Tone Probe. If you are only using it for unshielded cables and were you can get the probe up very close to them, then the Sperry alone will work OK, or even the Greenlee alone, but if you want maximum sensitivity and a good loud tone get the Greenlee for the Probe, and the Sperry for the best Transmitter. I'm not sure if you can get the Greenlee probe by itself, or maybe you'll find the other functions on the Greenlee transmitter are useful, but I haven't had occasion to use them.

Works well. Great product.
I’ve had a couple of these and have lent them to other guys in the company. They leave and I don’t get them back so I guess they are pretty good. Don’t lend it out... you may not get it back. I last tried a fluke version and didn’t work near as well. Save yourself some money and frustration, just go with this one.
