Can this be used in a 2005 vw golf tdi?

In the US VW used the BEW and BRM engine codes in the TDI golf and jetta from late 2004 to 2006. These engines use cam driven injectors to achieve very high injection pressures.  Upwards of 20,000PSI.  The cam lobes used for the valves are also thinner.  Not using the correct oil can cause premature cam, rocker, and lifter failure. Oil meeting VW spec 505.01 is what these engines need.  Shell does not produce an oil meeting this spec.  The easiest oils to get in the US that meet this spec are Liqui Moly and Pentosin.   My BRM based jetta archived over 400K miles with the stock turbo using Pentosin 5w40.  I use shell rotella T6 in everything else Cumming 6.7L honda 4wheeler generator and a kubota tractor.

I use to believe the myth that putting synthetic in a older vehicle will gain leaks. Well a few years ago i just up and tried it. Some trucks with as low as 200k miles to some over 300k and one over 500k! all made in the 1990s. Non of them got any worse and the one that did use a little oil between oil changes does not anymore. I even dump it in a 1960s skid steer with a gas engine air cooled. It started running a bit cooler. From now on all 4 stroke engines i have get this oil. Even older ATVs and dirt bikes to new ones. Not a problem on any of them. Even 1 UTV built in 1988! T6 in everything now!

Does rotella t-6 meet euro l standards for eco diesel

The back of the jug doesn't say euro l. One of its many specs that it meets is ACEA E9. 
Last year RAM released a technical service bulletin for my 2016 3.0L changing the recommended oil to 5W-40 Shell Rotella T-6 Full Synthetic. 
My local parts guy (at RAM) is pretty cool and confirmed that they use Shell Rotella when I asked him. I then came to Amazon and bought the 2.5gal jug for about half the price of 10 qts thru RAM.
