Why does this (pictures) show a 925 stamp on the gold earrings, when the 925 designation is used specially to indicate real silver, not gold?

One would think the ear wires were gold plated sterling, BUT the description states they are gold plated copper! I would buy them if they did not have the 925 marking, assuming they were gold plated copper, but based on the description I cannot confidently purchase either these or the silver colored ones with same markings as I would assume both are silver plated over copper and these just have an extra layer of gold plate. As another poster says, I can't use either for items to sell or gift.
