Does this really magnify text 20X, if not what is the actual magnification?

this is a good magnifier , though not 20x and the diameter of the glass is small, "pocket sized. I use mine to help me see I phone .type. price tags. etc. For reading I would suggest you check your states Talking Book program. You can down load thousands of books from the Library of congress,,,not for every one but if you need it it's great. A great magnifier is the Elector Scientific vid eo magnifier really works. It is expensive but it is the best. The others sold on amazon won't do. The one I bought was defective and difficult to return.

I don't know, but presume it's made in China, based on the name and price. It's a very nice desk magnifier. The glass is good. There is nothing etched on the metal casing to indicate country of origin.
