The dimensions Amazon claims of 3.7 x 1.7 x 6.4 inches are outrageously large for something supposedly thin? Is it really bigger than my 2014 Olympus?

I just measured it. 4.0 x 0.75 x 0.375 4.0" high 3/4" wide 3/8" deep at end with pocket clip 1/4" deep at end without pocket clip

Can you use an external mic?

No. There is no input for an external mic. The jack at the top is for headphones.

Is the usb-c only for charging? or can i plug an external usb mic into the usb-c slot?

There are no menu options that allow switching the USB-C port to support microphone devices. When connected to a computer it automatically goes into file sharing mode. The manual only refers to it as a charging and file transfer port.

Yes! I have a Mac and this recorder works great with it. Mounts as a regular flash drive. I can use the recordings from the device or copy them to my Mac.
