Although i can play my video through a tv, when i plug into the converter, it does not recognize the source. any clues?

Did you install the software? I used PotPlayer, and it was under TV. Similarly Skype or Zoom could also access the video feed directly. It was immediately recognized by windows.

Will this provide raw (yuy2) video to a capture program like obs? i’m using a mac.

I am not sure of yuy2, but obs can read it as a video source, just like any other USB camera. I hope that helps.
