Great Multi-Use Coat
I am outside a lot for my job so I need something that is versatile and can be used all year long. I searched for a long time and when I came across this Columbia Interchange Jacket with OmniHeat, which reflects my body's heat back to me to keep me warm, I knew I had a great winter coat. The fact I can remove the inner liner and just use the outer shell, or just use the liner, both of which are waterproof, I knew I had a coat for semi-cold days and warm days, rain or shine. I have given three coats to goodwill because this one coat replaced them all. I love that it is not bulky but conforms to my body so I look professional when I am working. I highly recommend this jacket.

Great jacket
Hubby LOVES his new jacket. Super well constructed. Pockets in all the right places. Great fit, very comfy, very warm. And the yellow liner can be worn by itself and looks super cool. OIverall, the coat looks great, keeps him warm, waterproof (at least during our week of skiing.) Great buy. Really great buy.

Polar Vortex...meh
A 3 in 1 coat that will keep you warm/comfortable in any weather. My main attraction to this coat was the light weight, breath ability, and versatility. Initially I went into Bass Pro to try on the coat (I recommend doing before ordering to avoid return shipping). Since they would not price match Amazon, I ordered it online. I figured I would wait until after the winter (in Kansas) was over before leaving a review, but since the polar vortex decided to move across the Midwest recently, I figured that would be the toughest conditions I would ever encounter. -30 degrees F (with the wind chill) and 3 or more inches of snow (with drifting). I was impressed. The Omni-heat does a good job at regulating body temperature. I was warm but not too warm. Since the weather in Kansas changes every 20 minutes, I was able to try out all the layer options (inner layer, outer layer, and both). They all do a great job. I have used this jacket hiking, mountain biking, and walking around in malls (which it will roast you alive). All-in-all for the price that Amazon offers, this was an outstanding product/deal.

Both better and worse
I bought this jacket to replace a Columbia Double Whammy jacket that was nine or ten years old. I stick with Columbia outerwear because I've found their products durable. I wanted a warmer jacket and this new insulation system (Columbia calls it Omni Tech) is warmer, so four stars. But compared with the Double Whammy it comes up short in a few areas, so it's only four stars, not five. First shortcoming is it's a little shorter than my old jacket. It does have a snow skirt you can lower, but I'd just like the body of the jacket to be longer. I liked the position of the pockets on the Double Whammy better too. The pockets on this one are uncomfortably high for me. I also liked the Double Whammy because it had under-arm zippers (or pit zips) which help to ventilate the jacket during exertion. One reason I chose this to replace it was because this jacket also has pit zips, but execution of this feature is my biggest problem with the jacket. The shell has pit zips, but the liner doesn't, making them essentially useless if you wear the jacket with the liner installed. If you do buy this jacket on line, check the price of various colors. Initially I wanted a black one, but selecting a grey one instead saved me about $40 at the time I bought.

Tighter fit but crazy warm
I went from an older Columbia interchange jacket to this one, both in XL size (I'm 6'1" and about 175lbs). The very first thing I noticed is this newer coat is a tighter, more athletic fit. Its most noticable in the armpits and sleeves themselves, the armpits are tighter to the body and the sleeves themselves are narrower. With my old Columbia I could wear a t-shirt with a sweatshirt underneath with no issue, and still have range of motion. Now with this new coat I usually only wear a t-shirt, I *can* do a sweatshirt too but its a little like being the kid from a Christmas Story...you get stiff and bulky. BUT this new version with omni-heat is so insanely warm that I don't need the sweatshirt, I'm comfortable in just the coat and a t-shirt in Buffalo winter.

Columbia Jacket
3 in 1 jacket is warm, but not bulky. The thermo heat lining is very warm. I powder cuffs could be better with a proper thumb hole to keep it around your wrist. the side pockets on the outside liner a little high, you can't realll use them to armd your hands up, unless you like your hands at your arm pits. I like the colors, and the fabric is comfortable. Good inside pockets and storage. We'll see how I feel after a proper ski in the powder of the Rockies.

Columbia Jacket was a dissappointment
I had high expectations for this jacket. I wanted a rain resistance and warm jacket. While I think the jacket met that expectation I was disappointed because the jacket was uncomfortable to wear. There is a thick zipper that runs under the armpit which I found very annoying. That zipper should have been in a different location on the jacket or been a lot thinner.

It's warm
I like this item because it's modular (can attach hood and internal lining). There is a gap between large and XL for me. I went with XL and it's very slightly too big but close enough. It's frighteningly warm. This jacket most certainly retains body heat. It really heats up after about 2 or 3 minutes if you're inside or outside. It's almost freaky how warm this is. If you lean against a cold metallic object for a while the heat will escape. However it will regenerate in a few minutes. Neat little coat.
