Homies: A David Gonzales Retrospective [Gonzales, David, Gonzales, David] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Homies: A David Gonzales Retrospective Review: More than I expected! - I originally bought the book as a reference for the art style I am working on for a video game project. I recall growing up in West Phoenix and that David Gonzales style art was everywhere. I had a couple of the Homies figurines, I used to decorate my school folders with the low rider art stickers out of vending machines, I had a ton of low rider shirts. I am a Chicano, and I grew up in a similar sort of environment. I mean, who doesn't have a homie named Droopy, Smiley, or Playboy. That was all common for me growing up. This book details David's life from his early days as a young artist, through his journey as tee-shirt vendor, toy maker, writer, all the way to him being the distinguished artist he is today. It is filled with great bits of information about his struggles in the industries and his failures and successes. All along, the 'Homies' are woven into the story. It's great to have him recount events that lead to the creating of certain characters and some of the fun stories about fans. Great to see him throughout give credit to the people that helped him along the way. This book not only features art from the Homies series, but also features much of his art from his clothing lines and some other stuff probably never before seen. Really great to see him develop as an artist over the years. I never knew he did the Ride or Die clothing. As I said, I originally bought the book for a character art reference as I love the Homie Style art. And as I hoped, it came complete with a Homies Character Bible at the end. I finished the book promptly, but will be referencing the final section for inspiration. I also might have to grab me some Tees from DGA.com. Review: Fascinating - Can't put it down. Mr Gonzalez's story and artwork reflects on the Latino community better than anything I've ever read. Great story.... tons of art.

Really good history of the brand and effect
I was basically expecting a coffee table pictorial of the Homies but was pleasantly surprised to find a detail history of the creator David Gonzalez's detailed history of how Homies came to be as well as pictorial documentation of the items. Great history lesson

Le encantó a mi novio, pero el único problema es que está en inglés. Fuera de eso llego bien cuidado y bien empaquetado. Gracias
