Brushed nickel isn't stainless steel
Brushed nickel isn't stainless steel, and it's not chrome either. If you're trying to keep your bathroom matchy-matchy, then you need to make sure your taps and other fittings are also nickel. Mine are, and with them this waste looks great. Very easy to fit and good value for money.

Looks good, works well, could be easier to fit
Bought because it was a fair bit cheaper than a well-known online plumbing store, and the usual builders' merchants didn't seem to stock antique brass. The good: The parts feels very solid, with metal rather than plastic in the important places. The mechanism works very well so far. It has good rubber seals that feel like they will not leak, and they don't deform and pop out of the hole like some do when tightened. It comes fully assembled, so the small amount of disassembly needed to fit makes it obvious which way round the various parts are supposed to fit. There's also a very clear diagram, which is rare these days. Other than that, the instructions are very brief, but this is not a complex job and things should be self-evident. The less good: it says it's good for baths of thicknesses up to 10mm. My bath is around this (hard to measure exactly) but I found the threaded part of the waste ("plug hole") was only just long enough to extend through the bath and make a secure connection with the nut on the other side. To make things worse the plug hole itself has sharp metal edges inside so even with gloves it is hard to tighten up. I ended up using silicone sealant on the rubber washers which give a small amount of lubrication and a little peace of mind, and then I actually built a three-pronged tool to insert into the plug hole to give me some extra leverage to tighten a little more.
