Can you switch the light off ?

Yes you can and there are two levels of brightness. Also the magnifier attachments can move several positions depending if you need them closer to your eyes/specs or further away. If I’m at my machine they’re closer to my face than if I’m hand stitching. Depends what field of vision you’re seeking. Also they tilt which is very useful. I’m very pleased with mine and my husband can use them too if he’s dealing with tiny screws etc

Does jt need batterys

There are 2 versions. This one is USB rechargeable which already has a built-in battery.

No. You will need a USB rechargeable plug.

Yes, good for reading small print. Not recommended for watching TV.
