Melitta no 2 Porcelain Single Cup Pour-Over Coffee Brewer, White

I finally made the switch from my trusty ancient plastic Melitta pour-over cone to the porcelain pour-over cone. I was concerned the taste would not be the same because of the hole size. The single hole in the porcelain cone is larger, but the difference can be neutralized by the timing of the pour. The porcelain cone is much larger and heavier than the plastic cone. A #4 size filter fits in it perfectly. Melitta includes a couple of their #2 filters. I can definitely taste the difference in coffee made with the Melitta filters compared to the Walmart bargain brand filters. The Melitta filters are worth the couple of extra pennies per pack. If you are worried about microplastics but like to make coffee with a one cup drip funnel, this is the one to get. It's a genuine Melitta, and the #2 Melitta filters fit perfectly. Heavy white porcelain.

Great alternative to plastic. Makes delicious coffee. It's heavy and durable and dishwasher safe. My only concern is not chipping the lip of my mugs when using it. Still, highly recommend it.

I was disappointed that I had bought an extra backup by mistake, and they wouldn't take it back for reasons of "food safety." How an unopened package would have come in contact with food is a mystery to me. They should have accepted it. The product wise, five stars. I use it every day, at least once, but now instead of having one backup, I have two. Pro tip: I mix the coffee and boiled water in a separate container, then pour it through the filter. I think it makes a more consistent cup of coffee.

It’s actually good. Heavy, but you get used to it. The bottom part is a little awkward, I was not too confident that it wouldn’t topple over if I let go of the handle, because it slides a bit. Just be mindful and have some space around the cup. I eventually let the handle go and it was fine. It’s good with all my 12 oz and 16oz porcelain mugs of varying diameters. The single hole is a little larger than the black plastic #2 cone. Takes both #2, #4, and basket filters.

This is not a single cup size as advertised. It even came with #4 filters. I threw away the box, so I can't return it. However, it is sturdy, well made, and doesn't have any plastic.

DEFECTIVE! The bottom rim is wavy, not flat. Like, what?!?! I can only guess (allegedly!) that Melitta had a defective mold and sold these seconds at a discount. Because the bottom is crooked, the brewer sits unevenly on a mug or small pot. If you don't hold the handle while pouring boiling water, the whole thing could topple over—causing a huge mess, a broken brewer, or even a severe burn. Bottom line: don't waste your time ordering it here!

Simple, low cost, durable, and effective. What more could you ask for? I typically brew my coffee in Bonavita BV1900 auto pour over machine, but occasionally I'll break out this Melitta if my wife is gone and I only need to make a single cup at a time. This is a great pour over cone for those who don't want to master the skills needed for more complex cones like the V60, but still want that signature pour over coffee flavor. Because the Melitta is single hole brewer, you don't need to fuss with pour techniques as the grounds will be completely saturated in water during the brewing process. You simply start with a bloom pour, wait 20-30 seconds, then keep adding water, maintaining the water level just slightly above the grounds bed while the brewer drains into the cup... once you've added ~380 grams of water, stop pouring water and you're done. Try and aim for a total brew time of around 2:45 - 3 minutes by adjusting the grind size to either slow down or speed up the flow of the water through the grounds. Once you have your grinder dialed in, you don't have to worry about that step for future pour overs. Easy! Even though I have one of the best auto pour over machines on the market (Bonavita BV1900), this Melitta cone produces a slightly better cup of coffee. In actuality, the coffee brewed from both devices is excellent, but the brew from the Melitta is cleaner, slightly more well-rounded, and slightly more complex. Excellent product! Highly recommended.

High quality pour over coffee maker. Feels sturdy when pouring boiling water through and fits all mug rims that I’ve used. Super easy to clean. Would highly recommend!
