Will these fit in a 2003 gl1800? i have db401s now but they lack any bass.

They fit my 2005 GL1800--I think I had to do only little bit of modification--can't really remember. These seem to be the speakers of choice for the Goldwing. They sound nice.

Question 2

Is this order a pair?   2  speakers ?   and are all 501's made for Marine or boat use?

Yes it is for 2 speakers, a pair.  On the Polk web site it indicates that all Polk speakers identified as db, DXi and MM series pass marine certification tests.  I have the db501's on my motorcycle and had the db401's on a prior cycle for years and they never missed a beat, rain or shine.   I also never avoided spraying them with a hose while washing the bike and never had an issue.

Question 3

Will these speakers fit the back speakers for a 1500 Honda Goldwing?

DB501's will fit in the back on a GL1500. Just installed a pair on my 98 1500 Honda Gold Wing. You have to trim the speaker mounting flange slightly on opposite sides. Tin snips do the job easily. These speakers rock with factory head unit power.

how durable are polkaudio db501 speakers ?

We put them in my son's Toyota 4Runner and they have been great, considering they are only 5" speakers.  There aren't many applications for 5" speakers, most are 5.25", but if this what you need, I can highly recommend them.  One thing I really liked was that they are marine-rated, so they are weather resistant and I expect them to very durable.They are also very efficient at 93db, so if you know the rule that "power has to be doubled for every 3db of additional sound", then you understand that a typical head unit can drive these quite well with 20 watts/channel, where it would take double that power for 90db speakers to get the same sound level.Overall, we've been very pleased with the Polk DB series, although the DX series seems to be almost identical, other than the grills.
