OSOYOO Omni-directional Mecanum Wheels Robot Car Kit for Arduino

I bought two of these to work on with my (teenage) grandson. I have mostly built one of them, ahead of giving the other to my grandson, just to make sure there were no "gotchas" that would disappoint him. There are none. It went together pretty easily and worked first time. I haven't tested it thoroughly yet and still have to add the tracking and navigation sensors, but the primary goal was to investigate the use of Mecanum wheels, and they appear to be doing their job just fine. The downloadable "Driving" app is somewhat limited but it works and is a good test for the robot. Developing a more comprehensive and flexible control program is something we'll work on together. This a great value for an introduction to Mecanum wheels, and I can't say enough about the support provided. I e-mailed support with a couple of questions about batteries and iPad Bluetooth operation and got replies back in minutes. I've never had product support this fast. Thanks, Osoyoo!

This is a great little kit for anyone interested in exploring mobile robotics in general and the impressive capabilities of Mecanum wheels in particular. It includes all the components you need to perform a number of robotics experiments. It allows both WiFi and Bluetooth control of the robot. It now includes lithium ion batteries and charger (except the wall dongle, which most folks already have). I did knock off a star for a couple of small issues. One, the acrylic board was dirty with some minor surface defects, it appeared to have been a used unit. This really wasn't a problem since it is mostly covered up by the electronic components. The electronics were in sealed packs and the remaining components appeared to be new. Second, two of the motors did not have the mounting holes properly tapped, so the screws would not go in. This wasn't a problem for me since I already have a metric tap and die set, but could be an issue if your toolbox doesn't have these. None of the other reviewers mentioned this, so it may have just been an isolated problem with the motors I received. In any case I think this is a great little kit and a good value.

The parts seem sturdy enough. With batteries, the unit has a solid weight feel to it. Initially, during testing after the build, one wheel would not turn. I emailed tech support on Saturday evening. I got a response *late that same night*. With the info that the support person gave me, I was able to remediate the issue and I had a working car within an hour. Osoyoo tech support is incredible! Because of their support, I'm now looking at their other products, like the Osoyoo Smart Home IoT Learning Kit. -jay
