One word….invaluable. Some people will say this isn’t useful because there is no recoil, but those people don’t understand the purpose of this training aid. I absolutely love it, I am just getting into competition shooting and I can tell you in the hour I spent using this, my draw and time to target acquisition had already improved. This is super super cool. Yes you do have to rack the slide in a striker fire, or cock the hammer on a gun with a hammer, but that’s fine, because the entire purpose of this kit is to get you on target, get used to your sites, get used to witness, and overall comfortable getting on target. If your competition shooting, this will 1,000% help your draw to target. Hope this helps. Also, the code they give you on the card, you need to go to “manage” account in settings and enter it under the laser strike code box, you will then unlock maximum features. Hope this helps!

I researched the different products for dry fire practice and finally ordered this one. Once you download the app, it's fairly simple to set up and it walks you through the setup and calibration of the laser. I suggest going through the calibration several times with a few practice sessions in between just to fine tune the calibration and get the most accurate scores. The laser didn't work at first until I worked out that the tiny batteries were upside down and then it worked like a charm. The kit I bought came with small and medium targets and I appreciate the ability to fine tune my aim to smaller targets as I get better. Definitely worth the money! I would buy again!

This review is divided into three sections; kit product quality, customer service support team, and product performance: I ordered a .380ACP kit with an additional 9mm laser cartridge. The kit arrived with a 9mm laser cartridge in the space identified for the .380ACP. In addition, the supplied cartridge was not engraved with any size information. A lack of part identification contributed to the kit error. About a week later I discovered the portable tripod in the kit was defective with the threads of the tripod too small to engage with the smartphone mount. The misfit of tripod components also indicates poor quality control for components in the Laser Academy kit. Both items were replaced and the kit is now complete. Customer Service was responsive to both issues I found and worked to exchange the incorrect laser cartridge and replace the tripod. Status of the replacements was communicated via email and the parts arrived as promised. I suggest using email to communicate with customer service as they will request a copy of your invoice and possibly photos of the defective component as part of the claim process. It's good to know there is a strong support team available if you need it. The product works very well. It is easy to set-up, the software app provides clear instructions, and your results are displayed on the targets in the app. It provides an effective visual feedback loop and is already helping to improve my accuracy.

Must have for staying proficient. Fantastic training aid. Can’t say enough good things. Do yourself a favor and buy this…….you won’t be disappointed!

I wish that tripod was taller. DeWalt laser level felt awkward sitting on top of the unit.

When using it with the ruger lcp max, you need to make sure that you screw the end cap of the laser cartridge in tightly.So that it's the right dimensions, so that the slide closes I had this issue at first. That it wasn't screwed in all the way. And the slide wasn't closing, but I contacted mantis support, and they were super helpful in resolving the issue and explaining how to properly make it fit

As a training tool it was effective while it was still functional. Some component internal to the laser came loose, the housing cant be opened. Laser light looks like dirt is on the lens, all smudged and egg shaped, not point-like, cleaning had no effect, finally I noticed the shape of the light change drastically from tapping the laser radially. Something is clear bouncing around internally.
