AN AMAZING NEW VERSION OF THE PHOTOSHOP BOOK THAT BREAKS ALL THE RULES! Scott Kelby, Editor and Publisher of Photoshop User magazineโand the best-selling photography techniques author in the world todayโonce again takes this book to a whole new level as he uncovers more of the latest, most important, and most useful Adobe Photoshop techniques for photographers. This update to his award-winning, record-breaking book does something for digital photographers thatโs never been done beforeโit cuts through the bull and shows you exactly โhow to do it.โ Itโs not a bunch of theory; it doesnโt challenge you to come up with your own settings or figure it out on your own. Instead, Scott shows you step by step the exact techniques used by todayโs cutting-edge digital photographers, and best of all, he shows you flat-out exactly which settings to use, when to use them, and why. LEARN HOW THE PROS DO IT The photographerโs workflow in Photoshop has evolved greatly over time, and in this current version of book youโll wind up doing a lot of your processing and editing in Photoshopโs Adobe Camera Raw feature (whether you shoot in RAW, JPEG or TIFFโit works for all three). Thatโs because for years now, Adobe has been adding most of Photoshopโs new features for photography directly into Camera Raw itself. Since todayโs photography workflow in Photoshop is based around Camera Raw, about one third of this book is about mastering Camera Raw like a pro. Plus, youโll learn: โข The sharpening techniques the pros really use. โข The prosโ tricks for fixing the most common digital photo problems fast! โข The most useful retouching techniques for photographers, and how to make โimpossibleโ selections like wind-blown hair (itโs easy, once you know the secrets), and how to use Layers like a pro. โข How to seamlessly remove distracting junk from your images. โข How to stitch panoramas, how to process HDR for a realistic look, and tricks for pulling way more out of your images than you ever dreamed possible. โข The latest Photoshop special effects for photographers (thereโs a whole chapter just on these!). โข A host of shortcuts, workarounds, and slick โinsiderโ tricks to send your productivity through the roof! Scott includes a special chapter with his own workflow, from start to finish, plus, each chapter ends with a Photoshop Killer Tips section, packed with time-saving, job-saving tips that make all the difference. He also provides four bonus chapters, along with the images used in the book for download so you can follow right along. If youโre ready to learn all the โtricks of the tradeโโthe same ones that todayโs leading pros use to correct, edit, retouch, and sharpen their workโthen youโre holding the book that will do just that. Review: Must-Have Book - I recently gave in to the inevitable and upgraded from Photoshop Elements (PSE) to Photoshop CC (cloud version). I learned Elements using Scott Kelby's then-current book and have used his books to learn each subsequent PSE release. If you're just starting with Photoshop, Scott's books are a great way to learn. When upgrading from prior PSE releases, I've used Scott's books as not just a way to learn new features, but as a complete refresher course on everything Photoshop can do. (That said, the one improvement I can suggest is a summary or index of new features.) I especially like the way Scott not just explains each feature, but tells the reader how HE uses it (or doesn't use it, but rather uses some other feature or technique instead). He also does a great job of teach workflow: which Photoshop tools to use in what sequence; and you get to practice what he's showing you using the exact same images he's using in the book (Scott provides link to download site). Scott has the gift of being a really good teacher, I love all his books, will buy more in the future, gladly recommend to others. Review: Scott kelby is the Best Photoshop Writer - The Photoshop Books for Photographers by Mr. Scott Selby are all very good. With these books you can self-teach yourselves. Step-by-step explanations with abundant pictures and screenshots. I very much prefer books over digital version because I can mark and write notes in the book. And I can easily go back to read any subject in no time. The price for the book is about the same as for a steak diner and you have your private teacher around with you for a life time. Very good value. Highly recommended for photographers of all skill level.

A great reference book
I'm 87, old enough that I sometimes forget how to do stuff I've been doing for years. Kelby has a tendency to try to be funny and fall off the mark with that, but he tells you in simple, straightforward words how to do stuff in Photoshop, and often more importantly in Camera Raw. He fleshes out Casey Stengel's advice: "You could look it up." In Kelby's book you could do that -- right now.

A Photoshop book truly relevant to photographers
I am a part-time pro photographer and have been using Scott's Photoshop books since he began writing them (together with the encyclopedic books by Martin Evening). Some people don't like his style but what is relevant to me is the high quality of information he offers. Other commenters complain that a large part of the book is dedicated to Camera Raw but Scott years ago began (rightfully) stressing the fact that most of the picture-wide processing should be done in Camera Raw before moving to Photoshop for selective adjustments. For people who agree on this image processing strategy the book is very valuable. The 4 stars are due to the microscopic size of text.

WOW!!!
When I received my book, I wasn't sure what to expect. I opened it up and saw it had tip after tip on how to edit photos. Teaches you how to fix things from reflections in the subjects glasses to how to sharpen an image to make it look it's best. I also loved the fact that it came with an white balance card in the back of the book as well. There is just so much information in the book on how to use photoshop. Even an added bonus is thrown in. It's Scott's own work flow as well.

Taught Long Time PS User Learned New Stuff
I'm an advanced amateur and have used Photoshop from very early days. I've learned a lot from this book. For example, one frequent problem in landscape photography is the brightness range from the sky to the land. I just lived with this issue, but Kelby suggests using the graduated filer which acts like a neutral density gradient filter. One problem of Photoshop is that there are many features that you just have to know about, that the menu system does not show them in obvious ways. This book doesn't show you them all (see Adobe's reference manual), but it shows you how to do lots of useful things efficiently. For a better understanding, take a look at the Table of Contents here on the Amazon web page.

Another well written book by Scott Kelby
As always, another well written guide for photographers giving them the information they need to successfully edit their photos in Photoshop. Scott writes in a style that is easy to follow without complicating the techniques, and best of all, makes the material readily searchable so you can jump to whatever topic you need help with.

Classic. Which is only good if this is your first Kelby book.
Scott Kelby is the man. I have read maybe 5 books of his?... Idk, lost count. He's never let me down.... which is why I was surprised to find such basic, basic stuff here. Seriously- "layers, selections & compositing" was a huge disappointment. Click & experiment and you'll learn just as much. I'm sure for the ultra new user there's a surprise in here, I just couldn't find it. I'm still giving him 3 stars out of loyalty- I haven't read the RAW section. I'm really counting on his promise to deliver hidden CC secrets. But I've shot RAW exclusively for years now... and so help me, if he just tells us what each slider does, I'm changing the title of this to "the book that breaks all the rules: like the one about being informative" and docking his last 2 stars. To be fair, he gets a star for saying desat skin tone is everywhere ( tho I have no use for it) and **voila!** Time's 2017 "Person of the Year" issue uses desat skin on every single Silence Breaker. Oh, and dude. The cover models' skin looks plastic. Not the look you were going for, surely?

The best hands on book on Photoshop
Kelby covers all the important areas of PS in a clear, readily understandable and fun to read way. Definitely the top book on Photoshop CC2017. Bridge isn't included in the book but available on the internet from Kelby. Frequency separation isn't included though it is a useful tool for all PS users. That, however, doesn't diminish the quality and value of this book. Highly recommend this to any serious PS user

Easy to understand book on photoshop.
The book is detailed with many coloured pictures and easy to understand, the only issue I had was not sure if this book was a new or secondhand book as when I received it the covers were as shown in the pictures not able to close normally. There were two barcode stickers on the book which I do not see on other books purchased.

A needed book.
Online help is all very well but nothing beets a book when learning new procedures.

Easy too use book
Scott Kelby knows how to write and instruct, a great teacher. It is a 2017 edition which really makes no difference to learning PS CC most everything applies even after the 2020 upgrade. The nicest part of this book is you can skip around to the chapters and information you need. Everything is well layed out and presented in an easy format to read and understand. A great book that still works!

Amazing Reference Tool for Learning Photoshop.
Scott is a very entertaining writer and this book holds true to his style complete with his famous chapter intros. An easy to follow format with great examples to follow along with. It's easy to jump directly to a topic or to just read the book start to finish. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to improve their Photoshop skills.
