No, this helps w an itchy scalp. It can be used throughout but you should mainly target the area that itches, rub in for 2 min, then rinse.

Can one leave this on the scalp without washing it out? or it has to be washed out?

No. It will not stain your hair green.

I would not use it to protect your scalp before a relaxer. The peppermint opens your pores so more than likely it will open and allow the relaxer into your scalp
