Fortress 50 Caliber Metal Ammo

I am over the moon about this ammo can. Prior to finding this on Amazon I looked elsewhere online and found a site that sold used ammo cans that were much cheaper than brand new. I thought I’d pull the trigger on those cheap ones (pun intended) and I regret it now that I have ordered this product. The used ammo cans were “clean” as in there was no dirt or rust on them but they were definitely well used. There were some scars and scratches on them and the biggest issue I had with them is the rubber seal on the underside of the lid. Although the seal was still intact, it was definitely used and you could tell that there was a bit of a permanent crease in the seal. I should have ordered these from the start. These ammo cans are brand spanking new and worth every penny; and they’re not all that expensive when compared to other newer style plastic storage container options. There’s nothing wrong with the newer plastic style storage cans but I trust these tried and true metal containers any day of the week over plastics. These cans came bubble wrapped as if they were an expensive vase, which is funny considering what this product is. However, it’s a very nice touch and not unappreciated by me at all. The lids close just like a brand new ammo can should: hard and tight. Pack up your ammunition and toss in a few desiccant packets and you’re good to go! These cans remind me of my Army days so I’m definitely nostalgic and maybe even a bit biased. However, I can 100% say that these cans are worth every penny for storing your ammunition and I’ve gone on to order many more of this exact brand after purchasing my first one. I absolutely recommend these to you with zero hesitation. Just buy them! I hope this review was helpful to you in making a decision. Cheers!

I am glad to have found these ammo cans. They are built as tough as you'll find in the civilian market for a reasonable price, the seams and lid seals are all GOOD, high quality, and delivered! I ordered 6 and they all came with bubble wrap on the cans and well packaged. I really appreciate that. I will get more. This is a great find.

Never owned an ammo can before, but thought I would pick up a couple for storage. Wow. I bought the 50 cal and the 30 cal versions. Heavy steel construction, excellent olive drab paint job and (a little thing, but...) the large side label peeled off without leaving a trace. The box latches and seals tight due to the included rubber seal and the handle lies flat to allow stacking. All in all, a great product and rugged.

How to easily remove the **** label Same Quality as real Military Surplus – Except for **** Label I gave this .50 caliber ammo can a lower rating because of the **** label. It is ridiculous and unfathomable to me as to why the manufacturer had to use such a strong label adhesive. Some reviewers work really hard to get the label off. This is the easy way to get the label off. Remove the lid by sliding it sideways. Fill the box with hot tap water up to just above the label. Do not get the label wet. The hot water has to be too hot to touch. Wait five minutes and the adhesive will soften up such that you can easily peel off the label leaving zero adhesive residue behind. Carefully pour out the too hot to touch hot water. Then borrow your wife’s hair dryer and blast all around the bottom seam inside and outside keeping the area too hot to touch. That seam holds water. Return your wife’s hair dryer to exactly where you found it. A happy wife is a happy life. I use these .50 caliber ammo cans for everything. These are NOT for waterproof storage. By design they are NOT waterproof. The lid seal is waterproof but it is really silly overkill because the can itself is not waterproof because it has an open seam all around the bottom and up one side. The bottom is a rectangular piece of metal that is placed inside the bottom of the can on a bent up lip. Then the bottom is electric machine welded around the perimeter. This makes for a very secure bottom attachment but it is not waterproof. If I need a waterproof can, I seal the inside and outside of the bottom seam, and the side seam, with clear silicone caulk. If I really want long term waterproof storage, I use PVC DWV plumbing pipe with primed and glued on caps.

It's a strong metal can with a good seal for keep ammunition clean and dry. It works. What more is there to say?

1) They must have fixed the annoying sticker problem because it peeled off all in one piece with no residue left behind 2) Cans sit perfectly flat on top of one another and don't wobble. The handle of the bottom box fits perfectly in the groove of the top box. 3) No dents or thin metal - wont dent if pressed firmly. Solid build. 4) Perfect size for cell phone battery malfunction containment. Lots of room for pressure release. 5) Opens on one side. Easy to latch shut, no resistance. 6) No scratches - gorgeous, smooth, matt finish. Beautiful colour. 7) Good quality rubber seal - easy to remove, NOT easy to reassemble I have nothing negative to say about this product. I'm very happy with this purchase.

Awesome quality and solid. I use it to store my batteries and powerbank. Also it has rubber around the lid to make it splash proof and lid comes off easily. I will get another one for valuables.
