How to Rebuild and Modify Porsche 911 Engines 1965-1989

Excellent book by a very knowledgeable author. Great writing tells you how and why things need to be done. Very informative with nice pictures. This book could save you thousands of dollars in shop fees.

Im not a motorhead, so I found this manual very thorough and easy to follow. The pictures are great with step by step instructions on rebuilding a 911 motor. Just ordered his "101 Projects for your 911" also.

I'm have my classic 911 engine rebuilt soon. This is an essential guide to understand the options one faces and the possible performance upgrades to consider. Highly recommended. FOLLOW-UP: After speaking with my mechanic at Flat6 in Bloomington MN, I did learn that some of the information in this manual is "old news." So keep that in mind and make sure you have access to an expert to see if anything has changed before you implement any of the techniques or performance upgrades discussed in the book.

Wayne Dempsey is about as good as it gets for Porsche specific information. This is a good reference for repair/rebuild and for performance options to consider if you are rebuilding an air cooled motor.

Wayne Dempsey has a clear and concise way of writing, and this book combined with his "101 Projects" take you through a 911 motor rebuild in an interesting and informative manner. I would have liked a few more line drawings to clarify some of his (very good) photos. My mechanic and I referred a couple of times to older publications. Overall this book, and 101 Projects are a must for anyone tackling a 911 engine especially for the first time like me I am waiting with anticipation for his Gearbox book.

Great book for a general rebuild. But, like any repair manual, it doesn’t cover every problem .

I will use this information to restore many different Porsches. It provides great value to have available in your hands at your fingertips when you need help! I Strongly suggest do you have one of these available as a reference source.

Having grown up on publications that had bad photos, shoddy references and murky editorial - This book is very refreshing! Every picture is clear and balanced through the book. The author, predicting that someone would be interested in the camera used (me), references the camera and how he took the photos. I am reading as much as I can prior to diving into my 901/37 engine.

Was considering removing and rebuilding my engine. Read areas of concern and opened my eyes to some of the problems. Helped make mind up to have garage do the work. Book still useful for smaller jobs I can do without specialist tools and knowledge. Great read and pictures to go with dialogue. If you've got an air cooled Porsche get one of these!

Great book for Porsche enthusiasts, either looking to do things to your classic car yourself, or just learning more about your cars engine. Lots of pics an d easy to follow advice and instructions.
