A great independent workbook
Unless your child's reading skills are significantly behind their math skills, they should be able to use this as an independent workbook to shore up their subtraction skills or even push themselves a little bit. The material is broken up along the obvious lines (two digit numbers, three digit numbers, with regrouping (which they call 'renaming') and without), and has both standard pages of a few dozen problems and more visually-oriented and context-based pages (pictures of rulers measuring items, etc). Each task has a succinct set of instructions that most 2nd graders should be able to read and comprehend. These Spectrum books are of reasonably good quality. While they don't have a spiral binding to lay flat, they're not so bulky that a child can't hold them open. The paper is thick enough to handle heavy-handed writing and multiple erasings (though i don't suggest using markers, they do bleed through a bit).

easy for kids to use
We have been using Spectrum books for our daughter since 1st grade. We used to buy some of these from the local Costco. The book is very well laid out, with plenty of space and readable fonts, easy for kids to use. The techniques are pretty much standard techniques that are taught in schools, and these books act as supplemental help, for parents who want to themselves work with their children and do the extra practice. There are number problems, word problems, visual problems and tables. This is not an "easy" book, it is meant to be worked on with your child with a tutor or adult as needed, to study and solve problems together. Pricing is also great on amazon, with prime free shipping.

Lots of practice exercises - Kumon way
If you know anyone who goes to Kumon - you will know that lots of practice makes a kid learn and be very good at the fundamentals. This is what this book does - lot of practice papers with different variations, visuals for the child the imagine. * Each sheet is perforated - so that it can be taken off and given to your kid to work on * Divided into 5 chapters and a final test from from single digit to 3 digit subtraction and a final test of all skills * lots of visuals to help the kid imagine

Great workbook with lots of colors and pictures to keep kids engaged.
Iโm very familiar with Spectrum workbooks so even before getting this, I had a very good idea of what to expect. The workbook contains standard math problems appropriate for Grade 2 students. What I really like about Spectrum workbooks is that they always make them colorful with pictures and diagrams that keep kidsโ attention. The workbook also teaches application of those math problems with concepts such measurements (length) and money. Overall, I think this book has the appropriate math exercises suitable for Grade 2 students. It is very effective in teaching Grade 2 students about subtraction.
