The Donut Book

This is a well written book pertaining to the history of the doughnut. 🍩🍩 After reading this book, it's impossible not to resist helping myself to a box of fresh doughnuts! Whether they're freshly made from a bakery, or packaged from the baked goods section of the supermarket, doughnuts are the ideal food that I enjoy having for breakfast, or anytime that I have a craving for them!

HI! I bought this as a gift. As I looked through the book before wrapping it... I was not really happy about the contents. I hoped it would of showed a lot more pictures of donuts, design and recipes. It is really not what I would consider a cookbook/bakebook for donuts. So if that is what your looking for I am sure another book would be much better for you.The cover design is the only great thing about this book and really the reason I bought it. I thought if they showed that many donuts on the cover Well then there must be loads inside...NOT!.

After eating my final donut for the year, I set out to find out the origin of this pastry. I ordered the Donut Book, expecting a history difficult to read. Instead, the book has grabbing graphics, short stories that can be read awhile then picked up later. I love the book. Everyone should read how doughnuts became donuts.

I was looking for a recipe book and this is not a recipe book. If you are interested in the History of the Donut...then this book could be for you. The is a book you read not bake with. But well done and plenty of details.

The history is pretty interesting but the recipes don't usually work out. A little disappointed because I got it for my husband who loves doughnuts and cooking. Looks like we will have to find an alternative and in the meantime give the doughnut shops some "dough".

I purchased "The Donut Book" online from Amazon.com Service and shipping was excellant! HOWEVER The book makes a nice "coffee table book" with lots of donut triva and photos BUT I was alittle disappointed, was expecting more of a "cookbook" with many more recipes and/or hints for making donuts!

Got this for my niece for Christmas. She finally told me she used it & she loved...Her nickname is 'donut' , so I guess that tells you all you need to know.

I am a little disappointed with this book and perhaps I should have paid more attention to the other reviews. As others have said, this is more about the history of donuts than recipes themselves, and although the history of donuts is interesting, I perhaps didn't want such a comprehensive, long and detailed history of them.The book is pretty long and most of it is about the history with a few borrowed recipes dotted around from other books, chefs and other sources. It's a nice book, don't get me wrong, it's just a lot, lot more history orientated than I had hoped.Bad points:-Author has written barely any of the recipes, most are from very very old books, manuscripts, chefs or 'historical sources'.-NO pictures for any of the recipes.-NO index of recipes, it's a jumble of recipes and history so it's very hard to find the recipes quickly-Almost all of the recipes are very old, so there are no modern twists or fancy recipes like we are used to from the likes of modern restaurants or Krispy Kreme type establishments.Nevertheless, there are some good sounding recipes in here and I will list them below for you so you can work out if it is worth it or not. I have also listed the origin of the recipe so you can see how many are old/borrowed or by the author. As I mentioned, there is a lot of history in there, so if you are after a comprehensive guide to the history of donuts, this is definitely your book, but if you are after a modern showstopper recipe book, then perhaps look elsewhere. I debated between 3 or 4 stars, but I settled on 4, because ultimately it's my fault for not researching more about the book before I purchased it, and the author has done a very good job, it's just not quite what I wanted.

This book have essential donut recipes, however is not my favourite donut book, it looks a little old fahion and the way the measurements are displayed in imperial units.

il est pas mal mais je ne recommande pas ce livre je l aurais plutot appele la biographie du donut pour un expose sur les donuts il est parfait il contient pas mal de reccettes mais rien de tres sensationnel...

habe gedacht es sind rezepte in diesem Buch aber da steht alles andere aber keine Donut Rezepte. Kein Empfehlenswertes Buch,für mich

Super livre très bien fais plus les histoires de chaque beignets dans le monde et jolis dessins & photos .
