A quality scope that will give you professional results on a budget.
I purchased this to diagnose problems with the computer control system on my cars. This is about the cheapest way that you can get into a scope and since I’m not doing this professionally, it’s thousands less than the better model scopes, but will give the same results.

Good set of accessories, works on Linux PC, has 2 channels + built in generator
This is the first time I'm working with an PC oscilloscope. The reason I did choose this one is it's excellent functionality compared to its price, good set of accessories and the software which works on Linux and Mac (although I, personally, don't need this one), not just Windows. Although there are some unimportant glitches in Linux software it is nothing too annoying and especially problematic, and they amount to almost nothing if you take into account it is a Beta version of the software. Take note, that despite the Linux software marked for usage in Ubuntu 18.04 it still works just as fine in Ubuntu 16.04. The set of accessories includes 2 probes with 1x-10x built-in switchable attenuators and color marks, you may place on probes to differentiate between the channels. The probes are easy to use and they'll help you make your hands and eyes free for what is really important. As for what I bought it for - I'm a little tired of just programming everyday, so I decided to play a little with an old sound amplifier that stopped working a few months ago. And of course there are more tasks it is great for, and I think I'll find much more applications in the future. As for the price - yes, you can find an PC oscilloscope that costs less, yet will it have 2 channels, generator, 2 probes of very good quality and software for platforms outside the typical Windows? No? Then you'll need to by Windows too, which will make the total you pay at least twice as much as this little one costs. Of course it is not much of a bother if you already have Windows. Those are all pros, as for contras - they're really all just my little mistakes that are easy to fix: 1) It's maximum input range is 20V and there are probes with 10x built-in attenuators, yet it is still not enough for some obvious use cases (for example I can't check power sources with this range of 200V). So, now I need an additional attenuator. 2) The oscilloscope has 2 channels + generator. It's really a nice feature for fine-tuning of a stereo-amplifier except... for the best result you'll need 3 probes, not 2. And so, now I need 1 additional probe. So, if you decide to buy one, may be it'll be for the best to buy some additional accessories with it so that you'll not be limited when you use this excellent PicoScope 2204A.

Seems like a good deal.
I will set this up and test it once I get back to work. This shipped in manufacturer's box that was not even taped on the sides. Arrived a little smashed but was quick shipping. This one did come with the cords needed to connect to the computer as well as the test leads. For the price so far it seems like a great tool that I will probably never run to it's full capability.

Awesome scope for the money
Nice scope for the money I think considering this was my first and only. I'm not a professional mechanic but i do work on cars alot and it's great for electrical diagnostics. I can check cam and crank signals and computer igt and igf square waves etc. This scope doesn't have the ability to capture near the detail I would like and sometimes need but it certainly helps in the diagnostic process without having to spend $3,000 on a high end scope when I'm not a professional using it daily in a shop. I've also found the software to be a bit frustrating cause there's several features that didn't work for me... like being able to save a waveform I've captured. Just won't save it... period. So I've had to resort to taking pictures of my laptop screen to save an image to reference later. I didn't realize for a long time that this scope doesn't have the sampling rate I thought it would. So when I wasn't getting the detail I wanted/ needed I kept thinking I was doing something wrong but I'm finding it's just the limitations of the scope. I wish you could tell the software what scope you're using and it would automatically adjust the settings to the scope parameters... example why let me select a sample rate that is significantly higher than the scope will process? Anyways it's a great scope and I've had many no starts I could not have diagnosed without it. Maybe one day I can upgrade to the automotive scope but that's alot of money for the occasional user. You won't be sorry you bought this scope tho... unless you really don't know what your doing and fry your laptop on a secondary ignition circuit or something lol

It delivers
Unboxed, read the manual, downloaded and installed the software .. and that was about it. *It is nearly as intuitive as a decent, stand-alone scope. The software is well written, and it's clearly honed to be usable in practice. The buttons on a screen are not quite as intuitive as labeled knobs and buttons on a dedicated scope, but it doesn't take too much playing to master the system. * The waveform generator is a really nice touch. If you need a full-featured signal generator, then get one .. but the built in waveform generator will handle most cases that a hobbyist would encounter. * The included USB cable and the 10x probes seem to be of respectable quality. * Looking forward to trying the sdk. Delivers a lot for what it costs. I have had a number of situations where I could really use a scope in the last few years, and didn't have access to one at that moment .. so this is going right into my travel case. Now I'll have a decent scope wherever I go.

Very good product.
This is a basic scope with limited abilities. But it works great and with a few extra pieces, it works very well. It was not designed to be an automotive oscilloscope, but with the addition of a couple attenuators and othe accessories, it has the ability to do 90% of what you need it for. If you are looking for a cheap option to get started with oscilloscopes, this is a great option.

Rock Solid Osciliscope
Just got it today, so this is based on my first impressions only. This thing is pretty awesome. I've used scopes that cost thousands of dollars, and this is compatible. All the features are there. The display is whatever your computer has obviously, and my compact laptop probably has a bigger display than almost any normal scope. The unit itself is absolutely tiny, slightly bigger than 2 decks of cards side by side. I have considered buying a standalone scope in the past but eventually settled on this. For less money, I basically have a full fledged scope in my laptop bag. In terms of specs, it is probably less in terms of bandwidth and whatnot, but Pico also sells that if you are willing to spend the money. For my needs, I expect the 2204A to fit the bill just fine.

Great entry level scope
Great product. Purchased to get familiar with the scope as automotive industry is all going to scope based diagnostics. Would recommend for an entry level scope.

Forget a proper scope, this is better
These great little units are night and day compared to an old fashioned oscilloscope. Initial setup is 5 minutes and the software interface is intuitive. There are pre built data blocks for decoding serial devices such as can bus, rs485 etc. It's usb powered and can be used everywhere. I have used this on stepper motors, encoders, canbus systems, modbus rtu decoding and re-pagaging using custom software. I initially bought for work then ended up buying a few for personal use at home to decide some one-line comms from diesel heaters! The function list is great, and the scaling is always set pretty good with little adjustment needed. Good tool for anything from casual DIY to industrial communication reverse engineering.
