Graph Gear 1000 Mechanical Pencil, 0.5mm (PG1015)

First of all, the value. I looked in many stores and found this device selling usually for over $20.00. It seems the art stores really gouge the real time shoppers. So, for about $10.00 I found this one. It even came in the mail a day or two early......great! It looks great, it feels great and it works great! Probably the only thing that seemed a bit odd was the rather large multipurpose pocket clip/retractor. Thats OK though. That part is really well made and pinned nicely. I don't think you will lose this one easily if you are going to carry it in your shirt pocket. It came loaded with HB lead and I like the fact that it used the standard Pentel erasers as well. I find that this model extends the lead perfectly every time! The lead holder retracts with a healthy snap. I feel confident that this unit is built well and will last a very long time. I bought the silver finished model of which is very beautiful to look at and to hold! Unless you are extremely particular, I don't think you can go wrong buying this nice little unit, especially if you can find it for $10.00. =KL=

As a lifetime draftsman and artist, I found these pencils to be one of my favorites. Comfortable fit for my hand, excellent quality, cool retractable tip.

Got me though the entirety of my bachelor's degree and survived humid environments such as Taiwan with no problems. Writes well and feels good in hand. Sometimes if writing for a long time I get temporary divots on my ring finger but I think it is just my bad pencil holding posture/me applying way to much pressure on the pencil and it pushing into my finger rather than a fault of the pencil itself.

Most important metric - when drawing, I don't feel it. Its a pencil and it does its job as it should. Onto the details - Very much a fan of the aesthetic - but you can make up your own mind with the photo. The whole outside is metal which (presumably) gives some solidity. Certainly reduces scratches and the like. Lead reservoir / eraser: As common, the leads are loaded at the top, underneath the eraser which is covered by a cap. Love the shape of the cap which mushrooms out at the top. Small feature - but it makes a difference! I have a habit of pulling it off with my teeth to get to the eraser while drawing and this very much facilitates the dynamic. Seems fairly unusual. The cap also has an indent in the bottom part which should assure that a tight fit between cap and pencil lasts well. I am very much a fan the Pentel eraser (I presume its common to all the Pentels - I've had it on all of mine in the past) which, unlike many others, sits inside a metal sleeve/ stopper so that it does not get pushed into the lead reservoir and, even once the eraser is gone, it is easy to open and close the lead reservoir. The mechanical lead extender action has a very satisfying "click" to it. It just ...feels good. And the metal lead guide retracts into the pencil body to keep it safe from bending and keep your clothes and legs safe from scrapes. What is ingenious though (I thought it was just a gimmick when I bought it, but am now thoroughly a fan) is that the lead guide retracts by springing open the shirt clip with a push of its top. I was struck by its simple genius when I went to put the pencil in my shirt pocket - and perforce pushed on the clip. Essentially - you get a fail-safe system whereby, as you put the pencil into your pocket, the lead-guide is retracted to preserve your shirt. One downside - There is a lead hardness window that is supposed to be rotatable to keep track of what lead you are using. However, the action is extremely hard. So hard that I thought that there is a trick I was missing or a release I couldn't locate, and I went scouring the internet looking for the trick. In the end, as others have written that their pencils broke in that area, I did not pursue the effort to shift the window. That's a pretty striking flaw in an otherwise lovely tool!

I really wasn't sure if there was any truth to the hype over this pencil, so I resisted trying it for the longest time. Then, when I saw the price come down, I decided to give it a try. Wow! It is prefectly balanced and the absolute BEST pencil to travel with! It has a cool feature that retracts the led when you're finished. Love that!! I also love the fact that I can specify which type of lead I load into the pencil. I just purchased a second one, as I really want to have one for colored led at the ready and one for graphite on the go. It's comfortable to hold, draw and write with. Just as a warning, you will need a separate eraser, as the one that is in the top is miniscule (fine for removing tiny marks), but I don't see that as a drawback. Just wanted to make that clear to anyone looking at this pencil for whatever you plan to use it for.

He probado otros portaminas y este tiene un peso adecuado que lo hace cómodo al usarlo. ✦ Conclusión: Si me hace falta otro portaminas, lo volveré a comprar de nuevo. Totalmente recomendado.👍

Je l adore . Ce crayon est parfait , il est robuste et tient bien en main . Je l utilise tous les jours pour mes croquis et dessins . J en ai plusieurs de la marque et je ne suis jamais déçue . Le prix qui peut paraître excessif pour certain est totalement justifié en regard de la qualité

I gave this Pentel mechanical pencil 5 stars because it’s absolutely perfect for drawing, sketching, and line art. The textured grip at the bottom makes it incredibly comfortable to hold and control. It has a very sharp, precise lead, and the best part is the retractable tip—it protects the sleeve from getting damaged when you carry it around. Highly recommended for any artist!

I ordered 0.5 mm graphite pencil but it came 0.3 mm . Pencil is good quality but I was not satisfied because of wrong item.

In short: Fulfils all criteria to guarantee an excellent product experience. Looks: I have lost track of how many years I have had mine (best part of a decade now). They still look the business and are often asked about by my clients whilst I am using them. One was even stolen, so I suppose that makes them quite desirable. Construction: The retractable tip is just perfect. It has a slight springiness to it that not only cushions the writing/drawing experience, but also helps avoid lead breakages, although the modern hi-poly' refills are pretty good in their own right. Made principally of plastic and aluminium, it is light yet very robust. The combination of a knurled section and rubber grip is perfect - no readjustment or sweaty finger problems. There are no fancy gears that turn the lead around (as advertised by other products) neither have I ever thought to myself that I need one of those - one less unnecessary mechanism that can go wrong = minimalism = long-lasting = happy owner. Use: Always works well, very easy to carry around (very light). Solid enough construction to withstand severe punishment - mine has been submerged in water for ~3 days (flood while I was away) & dropped from a height of over 10m (~30ft) - accidentally dropped in the space between staircase - which obliterated the lead refills inside but the pen works just fine. If it was the cheaper plastics varieties of mechanical pencils then they would not have survived. I'm also sure that some of the more expensive varieties will not be able to boast this. Even if it did stop working, replacing them is not going to be too painful. As testament to how well these have worked, I now have 3 varieties of these that take different refill sizes, as well as a spare 0.5mm as my all-rounder when I have to jot down or explain anything on the go. The oldest one is pushing a decade in age and looks/works like new. [For the astute fans out there: yes, they did make minor changes in their construction over the years, but not to any detriment] Conclusion: I have never been let down, only pleasantly surprised. I would highly recommend this over any other product I have tried (including comparisons against other brands that are >4x more expensive). A fantastic product that offers excellent value and many years of great service. This product has never disappointed me and I'm certain that most will agree once they have had the pleasure of using it.
