It worked perfectly for that! When I drain the spa there is about 4-5" of standing water at the bottom of the spa. I lowered this pump into it with the hose attached and it immediately kicked on! The pump didn't completely pump out all of the water. It has a sensor that stops it when it had about 1/2" remaining. I wished it would have pumped out more, but even that much saved me a lot of work. This was a great purchase! Review: Cheaply made - Installed a few months ago, pump worked fine for first 2 rains then stopped being able to pump out water (could just be the way I have it setup). Big issue is that after only 5 rains the propeller broke at the shaft making the prop unable to spin. After pulling the pump apart the only thing holdings the prop on the shaft was a small 1/16 by 1/8 piece of plastic. It was designed to break.

A Powerful Little Pump
I purchased this to clean out the bottom of our swim spa when I drain it. It worked perfectly for that! When I drain the spa there is about 4-5" of standing water at the bottom of the spa. I lowered this pump into it with the hose attached and it immediately kicked on! The pump didn't completely pump out all of the water. It has a sensor that stops it when it had about 1/2" remaining. I wished it would have pumped out more, but even that much saved me a lot of work. This was a great purchase!

Cheaply made

Lightweight, useful backup
Works well , only bought as a backup. Does a good job. Not very powerful, but does good for the money.

Decent pump for the money
I bought it to use as a cover pump on a 16X40 pool. I'm in California so it doesn't rain much, but the one time it rained so far it worked fairly well. The only issues were it tends to lose a prime in between downpours. If you're in a wet climate, you may want to step up to a better pump.

Works just ok
It works ok, but not as good as I hoped for. It seems to continue to run, even when there is no water to pump off of the cover.

Absolutely great product
I use this on my inground pool cover absolutely great pump for the money. Pumps take a lot of abuse during winters in northeast and usually don't last more than 3 seasons and are costly . This one is small but packs a punch .

Cheap and useless
The pump is very small and light. It uses a regular garden hose, which is much heavier than the pump itself. So trying to get the pump to sit upright on the pool cover is nearly impossible. If it doesn’t sit upright, it wont auto-start. I had to submerge it by hand right next to the pool edge to get it to start pumping. When it did, it was a weak pathetic pump that could not even get the water through all the garden hose attached. The $15 pump i had before worked much better. Dont waste your time with this one, you’ll be returning it.

Awesome pump
We had about a foot of water on top of the pool cover and this pump went to work right away. This pump is light enough to not ruin your pool cover but does the job. The 25 ft cord was also a nice addition
