Is there any indication (color change) when it needs reactivation?

The penguin changes color. I thought that was mentioned in the product description. I use mine in a safe and it has not needed reactivation yet.

is it safe to cook food in microwave after recharging the bag?

I usually leave my microwave open for a while to let the excess moisture dissipate or wipe it down with a paper towel. Then I go over the inside with a disposable disinfecting wipe.

Work Well!

Needed these to help get rid of moisture in car being stored. They absorb the water vapour, and release it when microwaved atop paper towels. Back they go into the car, to repeat the process. I am satisfied with this product.
