Tiny speaker, big sound! PERFECT with Amazon Echo Dot.
This little speaker is fantastic and absolutely perfect for my needs. I bought an Amazon Echo Dot on Prime Day (and then another one a few days later at full price I loved it so much!), but I have an open living/room/kitchen kind of area that made placing the Dot tricky. In the living room, I couldn't hear it from the kitchen, even cranked up to volume 10. Since I love to have music playing while I cook, I thought I would look into Blue Tooth speakers that would work with the Echo Dot. When I first opened the box, I was a bit disappointed because it is so small, but this speaker far exceeded my expectations. I have a tin ear and don't care about (or really understand) bass and woofers and whatnot. I just want to hear my music selections while I'm cooking. I don't need it to be entertainment/party quality, I just wanted something to chop onions, sip wine, and putter to. And this fits the bill perfectly. After charging it up and then turning it on, the speaker paired effortlessly with Amazon Echo's Dot. I'm not actually sure how it even did it since all I had to do was select the correct blue tooth device in my Alexa app. Voila! Instant sound in my kitchen (I keep the Dot in the living area where we are most of the time, and I put the speaker on a little shelf I have in the kitchen). I love that I can turn off the speaker and Alexa hops out of the speaker and repopulates her hockey puck. The speaker is portable within 30ish feet of the Echo product to which it's paired, so you can move it around within that range. You can also just turn it off and use the Dot normally. Other reviewers have noted that the speaker makes Alexa too loud in certain conditions, such as playing Sleep Sounds, but it seems that you can modify this a bit by using both Alexa's voice commands and the speaker's volume controls. For example, if you tell Alexa, "Alexa volume 5" and the speaker is set to its highest setting, it will be loud. If you set the speaker to a lower volume and tell Alexa "Alexa volume 5," it will play less loudly. Set it to volume 1, and it will be quiet. As I said, I don't have this in my bedroom, so I am not sure that it will ever be quiet enough, but if it's too loud, just turn it off and use the Dot speaker. Anyway, I love this item, and I think that it's a great buy at $20 (when I got it, the black one was slightly less expensive, but it's definitely worth the current price.). If you're looking for an amazing, immersive sound with blah blah woofer blah blah bass, this is not your speaker (or your price range), but if you just want the Alexa Dot to be louder in certain instances, it's fantastic. I love it and would definitely buy it again.

Great bluetooth speaker for the price
There are a lot of bluetooth speakers on the market. The prices vary wildly and so you have to consider the price when reviewing any bluetooth speaker. This is not an expensive device. But is it worth the price? Design - The design is simple and basic. It's a black box with some small speakers in the the front, four, clearly marked buttons on the top and a small panel in the back with an on/off switch, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB port. It's not a big device and would fit easily in a bag or even a coat pocket. Sound quality - This is not an expensive hi-fidelity speaker. Remember the price. The sound quality is good enough for a device of this size and the volume is pretty good. Think of this as your "beater" speaker for outdoor fun and it will meet your needs pretty well. Battery life and bluetooth connectivity - The bluetooth connectivity is good. I have been able to connect this to a number of devices with ease. It takes a few seconds to connect but then the connection is robust and seems to have good range. The battery life is good for a few hours and if it's fully charged will last a decent while on a beach (depending upon the volume). The device charges over a couple of hours and holds charge well. Conclusions - This is not a $300 - $400 speaker. At the price it will meet your needs as an outdoor, fun speaker letting you play music over bluetooth on a day outside. The sound quality and battery life are good enough and I can highly recommend it.

Nearly 2 yrs. Good value, just missing that one little thing that would have made it perfect...
Nearly 2 years of nearly daily use and still going strong. Unfazed by light water splatter from sitting beside the bathroom sink. Update: After a year-and-a-half, I’m still using this almost every day, sometimes all day on the weekends. Battery still charges ok. Power switch is getting a bit worn but still works. I’d be crushed if mine were lost or broken and it wasn’t available for sale anymore. I had been looking for another BT speaker to replace one I bought at Rat Shack several years ago. It was brilliant, connected easily, full stereo sound, compact & lightweight, phone functionality, full controls. The battery would no longer take a charge. I took it apart thinking I would replace the battery, but then I got lazy. Then Prime Day came, and I saw this for about the same money as a new battery. It had good reviews, so I went with it. I got the used one for a few dollars less, but I see no discernible difference versus a new one. Even though it was listed as a Prime item, I selected regular shipping as I was going out of town for a few days; I got a $1 credit toward digital purchases. (Which I'll probably never use.) Came in about a week later. I wasn't prepared for small it was. And very lightweight. Like I could almost carry it around in my pocket, or easily in my backpack for my next trip (which in fact I did). It took a little while for the device and my phone to recognize each other, but once they did, they're practically inseparable. I'm also quite surprised at the sound. It's fairly clear; I got a small amount of distortion at higher volumes, but nothing objectionable, and the bass response isn't booming, but it's not bad. It does vibrate in my hand (no I haven't tried it down my pants). "Smoke On The Water" sounds decent. But there might be something to be said for whatever song or music app I'm using (which is, uh...Amazon Music, actually...). Good stereo separation (try Ozzy's "Crazy Train" and you'll hear it at the beginning). The manual is thick, but only has a few short pages of instructions in about every United Nations-recognized language. So not very informative. I never used my old BT speaker very often, and the same might become true for this speaker. But I decided to use it today just around the house, and that's when I noticed it. There's no forward or backward buttons. There's a volume up and volume down button, and two different buttons that appear to do the same thing (connect / disconnect BT) as well as the switch on the back....but no way to skip tracks. That lost a star for me. Seriously? I get that one would use this with a phone, and that one can use the phone to skip tracks. But dammit, if I can make calls with it and if it gives me three different options for controlling calls, why can't I control how the music plays? I can do this with my cheap corded earbuds, why not with this? I'd gladly have paid a few dollars more for this feature. I'd gladly have given up phone features or one of the three ways to turn off Bluetooth in order to have this feature. But no. Maybe Amazon has a software update that can be loaded through the micro-USB port? Update: Took it to Germany with me last week, fit nicely in my carry-on backpack. It was very useful and convenient in our work area for two full days to stream music from our phones to help pass the time. Lack of skip controls wasn't really an issue, not sure it was even noticed. I have now taken to using it in the morning to listen to podcasts while I shower (on the counter, not IN the shower), where for years I had been using an iPod dock. Just in time as my trusty iPod no longer keeps a charge. Also you should know that, at least when connected to my iPhone 6s, it does NOT override the volume control on the phone in the same way that connecting to a car's Bluetooth system would. So the volume controls on this speaker and on the phone continue to work totally independently. So it's still a bit of a balancing act. Update: I got curious today; it's really hard to see through the speakers even with a flashlight, but I verified there are two speakers, AND what I can only assume is a an oval-shaped bass port in the center. And actually the bass response is more than adequate. And I still use it almost daily.

Great sound, portability, and worth every dime!
These little portable speakers are great! We now have 3 of them, purchased over a period of time. We use them constantly. Most recently we used one outside while we were cleaning out our large garage. The sound was great, it filled the garage with the sound, and it doesn’t sound tinny. It works great for a range of music, from classical, to hard rock. It’s also great for movies streaming on our laptops, or tablet. For the price, these are so worth it. We had more expensive plug-in devices, with bigger speakers that performed poorer. The only drawbacks, (which are small in my opinion): sometimes it does disconnect from my phone, but usually when I’ve walked out of range (50’ or more, probably), or there are several thick walls or floors between. Also, it charges by USB, which could be bit of a hassle, but hasn’t been so far. We just plug it into an iPhone charger, or a laptop. Another positive note, it has great battery life. It lasted more than 12 hours going constantly on pretty high volume. I’ve used it off and on over about a 48-72 hour window without charging it. It’s a great little performer!

Decent little speaker; not great volume for larger space
Decent little speaker, but the volume doesn’t go high enough for some larger rooms. I am a music teacher, and I picked this out because it was light and portable, and not too expensive, in case a kid accidentally damages it. It connects to my phone easily by Bluetooth, but when I play classical music (has a big variance in low and high volume parts) it won’t go up high enough. I am using it with an iPhone, so I’m not sure if the volume would get louder with another device. This is picky, but the charging cord (usb) is very short. It has been holding its charge well though. For listening to music at my desk, it works just fine and has fairly good sound quality.

Outstanding Sound & Build-Quality-- a great VALUE even at 2X the price it was in May 2019!
Terrific sound from such a small device. Pairs (Bluetooth) very quickly with all of my family's phones ( and Chromebook and Macbook and Windows Laptop and..and..and.. 😊). Battery life also Amazing: easily over 10 hours even with Volume cranked! I also Must give a Shout-Out to its ability to Take a BEATING: over the 11 months since I bought it, in almost daily use in "Real Life" conditions, our speaker has been dropped, frozen (left out in the cold overnight), covered with sand (beach trips), dropped in a snow bank, and even submerged in water for about 20 seconds😳-- and it still works! NOTE: it is not advertised as being waterproof or even water-resistant, so "your results may vary. 😜) But yesterday-- while it was playing music-- my cat knocked it into our hot tub where it floated for about 20 seconds before I got to fishing it out. The speaker sputtered and died-- a little SMOKE even spilled out of it for a few seconds. I placed it on a rock far from anything combustible (fearing the Li-Ion battery was about to catch fire). About 9 hours later-- After it had completely dried out in the sun/wind-- I flipped the switch and-- Voila!-- it powered-on and immediately paired with the Android phone in my pocket! That's truly amazing-- especially compared with the many other BT speakers and phones (many of which ARE claimed as water-reisistant [ Google "IP67" or "IP68" to see the details] , which all DIED after minor exposure to mist or even just high-humidity! Grab 2 or 3 NOW before they jack up the price again!

Great sound, volume, & price!
I love this bluetooth speaker! I primarily bought this because the speakers on my laptop are very soft and I wanted better speakers. These speakers are clear, have great volume, super light-weight and convenient! Now I can walk around my room and listen to music and I don't have to strain my ears to listen to my shows/videos. I was even able to hear my music over all the noise as I was cooking in the kitchen! Sometimes I don't want to turn to volume up too high at night, so I put it on low and the sound is still clear. The design is very ergonomic. The speakers are small and light so that it doesn't take up a lot of space if you want to put it in a bag. It was very straight forward when it came to pairing with my laptop. I simply paired it once to my laptop. Now all I have to do to pair the speakers to my laptop is turn them both on and they will automatically pair up! I even tried it pairing it with my phone and that was just as easy, but I don't see myself using these speakers for the purpose of phone calls. I only wish that the charging cable that came with the speakers were longer. (It's only 6 inches long) However, it isn't too big of a deal, because I can always get a longer charging cable. Overall, this is a great product and a really good deal!!

Better options out there for just a bit more $. Like the hard-wire option, mediocre sound at high volume.
It's a $20 speaker, so I should not expect the world. But I've had such great experiences with Amazon Basics that I wondered if this little speaker may be as good as some higher priced models. It's not. The speaker is not bad and it might be worth the $20. But there are speakers out there which are considerably better for $7 or $8 more. For example, the "Cambridge SoundWorks OontZ Angle 3" is a great speaker in terms of sound quality and volume for just a bit more money or the Anker SoundCore (a definite step up from the Amazon Basics for just $7 more). To me, I'd rather have a significantly better speaker for $28 than a mediocre speaker for $20. The sound quality is not terrible, but not great. The volume goes up pretty high (a Bluetooth speaker should be better quality than the speaker on my phone or else what's the point?), but distorts at the higher points. What I do really lilke is that it has a hard line, so you can connect the speaker the old fashioned way (with a cable!) if you ever need to. This is a wonderful feature that is actually not always found on these little Bluetooth speakers (the aforementioned Cambridge and Anker both have this feature, too). I decided to return Amazon Basics Bluetooth speaker, but then I was shocked to so that this "Prime" product would cost me $6.50 to return! So I'm keeping the speaker--more than a 25% hit to return an item...hard for me to swallow. This caught me off-guard. One reason I buy so much on Amazon is that the returns are so painless. So I was surprised that this Amazon-branded "Prime" product required me to pay the shipping for a return. Probably my fault, I did not read the fine print. I'm used to "Prime" being a safe and thoughtless purchase. In sum, this may work well for a kid with a cheap phone to connect, but I think most any adult will wish they had kicked in a few more bucks. It looks like Amazon Basics has a more expensive speaker, too. I have not tried that one. So, it fair for Amazon to attempt a cheaper Bluetooth speaker option and I'm not sure it's a failure, I just would kick on the extra $8 for a significantly better experience.

Altamente recomendable
