Yes. The canvas strap could hang on a hook or something. That's what we do with ours.

It does stand up on its own but I have never seen this Tool Bag used for this function. Great for carrying up to 50 LBS of tools around, sturdy bag.

Standard be a good way to carry quarters? I have to unload some washer and dryer machines and have been looking for something to carry them in.

This bag would hold a LOT of quarters. There is another one that has a cover that closes using Velcro that would probably work better for you

Is this a 5 gallon bag?

It's about the same size as a 5gal. bucket. Not a electrician, but It comes in handy when on a ladder or on top of something.
