How do you keep it in the closed position to carry it? Mine opens if you tilt or shake it?

You twist it slightly as you close it. Mine stays completely closed and I carry it by the attached fabric handle. Maybe you got a lemon.

Just got mine and this thing is almost impossible to open. It doesn't rotate. I struggle with it and then it pops open. I can't figure it out.

When it's closed. It does fit a little tight. So it stays closed while you carry it somewhere. But you just put your thumb and pointer finger in the holes on the top and bottom and pull apart. It's not really that hard. I love mine. I take it with me on my motorcycle. So I can sit any where I want when I'm off the motorcycle. And it's adjustable to any position from. High to very low. This is a great device. I'm glad I got mine. Hope this helps.

What is the seat diameter?

It shows in the discription 17 by 10 by 17 . So I would think the seat part is 10 inches round

Can this be used in the shower?

I guess you could use it in the shower because it’s made of plastic. If you do, you might want to remove the carry strap so it doesn’t hold water and form mold/mildew.
