How bright is it. Can you read by it?

Hi Wendy, this pineapple lamp is more used as night light, not so bright for reading, for warm ambient and decorative purpose. Thanks.

Is the pineapple lamp plastic (as reviewer stated), or is it real glass (mercury glass)?

It appears to be glass, but it could be plastic. I’m honestly not sure. More attractive when lit, not so much unlit. Sorry for the unclear answer.
