WD 1TB Elements SE - Portable SSD, USB 3.0, Compatible with PC, Mac - WDBAYN0010BBK-WESN

Purchased two of these solid state portable drives. Happy with both, no issues to date. Compatible with my iMac straight out of the box; no mounting or formatting issues. I use them to store photos, design projects and documents. Wish this was a password protected drive; it's not, so security is an issue if the drive is lost or stolen. Unlike my older WD SSD that was password protected (but recently failed), I have to password each file I store on this drive. It's a pain in the butt. If you are looking for a password protected drive, keep looking. If you just need a durable portable SSD, this WD Elements 2TB is a great option. FYI — the slim profile makes this drive compatible with the "docket" brand external drive pocket. My older WD external drive is the size of a brick and doesn't fit in the docket. Price point was a bit steep, but for a reliable SSD that is lightweight and doesn't dismount every time it's touched, this is a fantastic buy.

I had a Toshiba (at left in the photo) legacy USB drive and it just crashed. It not only crashed but it is completely non-recoverable. Every file is lost. I used every Linux trick I know and it's toast. This WD is the replacement. It took only a couple of minutes to re-partition the new drive to ext4 (for Linux) and I ran my end-of-day backup routine much faster than I had experienced in the past. It is not as fast as my internal SSDs (I have two) but it's remarkably faster than a legacy USB HD. Minuscule footprint and weighs nothing. It's also thin and would easily fit in a front jeans pocket. I am upset that I lost some files but I am glad that it happened. It looks like the traditional HDD is fast becoming a thing of the past.

This is a big improvement from my 10-year old external hard drive. I was able to backup everything from my PC in just a few minutes instead of hours. This saved me a lot of time. It does get a little hot (so do my other external hard drives), but it is not an issue for me since I only use it for backing up my data. In short, it is compact (2.5”x2.5”) and fast. I am happy with the purchase!

Whether I'm on the job or just having fun, this SSD will keep all my content in check across all my devices – it's like the ultimate content commander! Plus, with plug-and-play functionality, it's like magic – no hassle, no fuss, just pure productivity bliss! I got this thing originally for storing my Xbox games since I was running out of room and the NEXT GEN requires SSD. It will store games and everything else (BUT) the games you store you CANNOT PLAY THEM. It makes sense tho..i don’t know why I thought id be able to store games and play them as well on this little thing. *The weight is so light that it feels like a McDonald’s toy , like it’s just a shell of plastic. But it has TB of space and works like a charm, I now use it for my pc for storing music and videos I create. * cord length is a foot maybe a little longer

This surprisingly small SSD worked perfectly when plugged into my Windows 10 PC.

It works great and very fast, so good it has lasted for about a year with no issues on my mac

I bought this hard drive almost 2 years ago. This hard drive do not give any kind of problems and very small for the amount of data I use it for. No noise. Installation is just plug in. Also very durable. I cannot complain.
