What is this? Do I scoop ice cream with it?

This is not an IceCream scoop. This is for Sorbet.

Do you need two, or will one suffice? for reference, i'm looking to use on a bmw r1200gsa.

Once you break the bead on the tire, this tool is placed on the opposite side of the tire (from where you will be using your tire irons to pry off the tire), and the tool's function is keep the tire off the outer part of the rim and closer to the center of the rim, making it a bit easier to pry off the tire. If you have a tire stand, you can simply lean over the tire and push the tire down on the rim while you spoon the tire off the other side, otherwise the Bead Buddy certainly helps and only one is really needed.

Will it work on 21" wheels

I have a Triumph Tiger 800 with a 21 inch front wheel. Specifically they are 90/90-21. I just changed the tires front and rear on this bike and could not use the tool on the rear (150/70-17) and it woudl not work. On the front it did work but it was at its limit.

Have read reviews this does not work on rear 17 and 18 inch rims? ie Africa Twin and others...

Ive used it on all the rims ive had . I would imagine it would work. Ive done mini 10-12 wheels to 19 and 21 inch wheels with it .

If you change dirt bike tires buy this! Works great and the company is even better! Bought the bead buddy 2 off of Amazon but when I received it it looked to be used. So I emailed motion pro and even though they didn't ship it meaning I should have gone through Amazon for my problem, after providing motion pro with my order number a couple pictures and my email a brand new replacement was shipped free of charge! Great company! Great product that actually works! Everyone should have one! Buy it now!

Compre 2 Motion Pro 08-0471 Bead Buddy II para mis motocicletas, GT 250cc marca Vento doble proposito, sin embargo ahora que fue necesario utilizarlos, me di cuenta que no es posible engancharlos en los rayos para sostenerlos en posicion cuando quieres quitar la llanta. Les comento lo anterior porque considero que seria bueno tener en cuenta que no funciona correctamente para todos los tipos de rines. El producto esta fabricado con excelentes materiales, tiene un gran acabado y es un gadget muy util para los que recorremos rutas fuera de camino en nuestras motocicletas.
