The best battlefield in a long time
So first off as someone who has played battlefield since the very beginning and has played every battlefield released to date, this is definitely one of the most stable releases, I've ever seen. I've had very few online errors and after the horrible release of BF4, it's a breath of fresh air. The campaign is actually pretty good though it is a bit short and just uses the same maps from the online portion. I do wish the campaign was a bit longer and had some more unique areas but it's still quite fun. It's a huge improvement over the campaigns of the last few games actually. The multiplayer is the main part of the game obviously and it's a ton of fun. It's very much built around teamwork and squad-play. You won't pose much of a threat if you're on your own so you should probably look elsewhere if you don't like working with your team. This game basically requires it if you want to win matches. The classes are actually pretty balanced as each class only really excels in certain situations. Assualt is good for close quarters and fighting vehicles. Medics are good at medium range combat and they can revive and heal people. Scouts post long-range threats but aren't very dangerous up close and have few useful support items other than spotting flares which light up enemy positions for a short amount of time, and lastly support has suppression capabilities so they excel and mowing down large numbers of people or blocking doorways with constant fire and they can also use mortars and give their teamates ammo. Personally, I love it. No one class is a god-tier class capable of mowing down all the others. You can't just run in and kill ten people without reloading. You're lucky if you can kill two or three without reloading in a great situation. It's very well done and forces you to focus more on objectives to win rather than just playing for kills. As for the game modes, operations mode is very interesting and is essentially like rush mixed with conquest. One team tries to take two flags a series of times and if they fail, they'll gain a behemoth for the next try which will generally help them push forward and take the flags. It's very well done. Conquest and rush still exist and conquest is still very much my favorite game mode. The new game mode carrier pigeons isn't bad but it's a bit tiring. It's very fast paced but worth trying once or twice to see if you like it. I'm not a fan of team deathmatch so I'm not going to touch on it here. If you like it, feel free to play it, but it's really not the main game made for battlefield. Conquest is where the real action happens and it;s very intense. You'll find yourself constantly under fire when you try to storm flags and you'll see constant explosions all around you. Vehicles are done differently than in 4 with each time now receiving a number of vehicle tickets they can spend at the beginning and after a reset time when a vehicle is taken out. This means your team has to carefully pick which vehicles you use because you may only get one or two tanks or one or two planes and if your team grabs all light tanks and fighters, you'll be at a disadvantage to a team with a heavy tank, a landship, a bomber, and an attack plane. Again, teamwork is very important and vehicles should be the number one target when you're up against them. A single heavy tank can roll over dozens of people largely untouched if he has one or two guys who can repair him and the same goes for the landship. The light tank poses a big threat to infantry but is fairly easy to kill for only one or two assault players and thus isn't terribly valuable except in infantry heavy combat. The planes are very well done. Each one excels at a specific role much like every other thing in this game and you have to play up their strengths in the right situations to win but you always need to be careful of flak cannons which can knock you out of the air fast. Artillery guns are a new an interesting feature as well and they're pretty cool and they actually pose a big threat to people since they have massive splash and can kill vehicles fairly easily. Overall, this is an amazing game, Pick it up. You won't regret it.

BF1 hits a Home Run
I've had this game for a few weeks now and I can now offer up my opinion on the game from what I have played so far. This game is amazing. There is an added layer to the game that is lacking in the Call of Duty franchise counterpart. There are aspects to the game that can apply to any game-play style. The primary classes consist of Assault, Medic, Support, and Scout. The Assault class are more for those who like to run and gun with high rate weapons that are effective in closer combat scenarios. They also pack anti vehicle weapons that can really help yourself in a outgunned scenario. The Medic class is more of a mix between Assault and Support. This class offers the added benefit of attacking at longer ranges while also gaining the ability to heal and revive your teammates. Support class is more of a mix class to play as well. They offer larger weapons with large magazines to lay down lots of suppression fire when taking or defending in game objectives. This class offers the added benefit of giving your teammates more ammunition and specialty arms like grenades. Last the scout class is for those who like to engage an enemy at a distance. This class offers a range of sniper rifles that can be effective at engaging enemy's at various distances. All of these classes coupled with in game extra class pick ups (sentry kits of a flamethrower and heavy machine gun) and vehicle classes make the game interesting and unique. There is a class and game style that anyone can play in this game and be successful with. Pro's: - Campaign story and multiplayer matchmaking. The campaign isn't exactly needed but its a nice bonus to fill the gaps of too much online playing. - Incredible graphics audio in game sounds. Whether in campaign or matchmaking the graphics are unique and cinematic. No detail has been left out, even when it comes to in game destruction interacting with the environment. The in game audio is superb as well, I found myself in many situations online hearing an enemy approaching to better take out the threat. - With the update from 11/15 we are seeing a better match making interaction as well as in game improvements that were desperately needed with certain class glitches and over/under powered weapons. - Large multiplayer teams with large and extensive maps of all types (hardcore mode coming soon) - Extensive experience points to be gained during the match. Anything from marking an enemy, suppression fire, capturing objectives etc. all count toward your score and final experience points at the end of the game. Con's: - In game multiplayer glitches still exist but are minor since the patch of 11/15. - Bad spawn points. In game they still have several bad spawn points where the game will place you right in front of an enemy with you having no time to react. Spawn on a team mate in your squad when possible. Overall this game is incredible and highlights all the main weaponry and maps that were prevalent in WWI. The dynamic of each game is unique and there are plenty of options on who you want to play each one. It leads to hours of enjoyment that makes you keep coming back for more. Definitely Recommend!

First BF1 game...
For being the first BF game I have owned, I have to give it to DICE and EA. This is a great game, with wonderful graphics and sound design. From the rain (and seeing it on your weapon), to the sandstorms, and wind, the dynamic weather is gorgeous and should be praised. Multiplayer is a blast and fun for days could be had, especially if you are with a squad. Going from COD to this, there is a learning curve I had to adjust to but I can say it shouldn't take too long with a little focus (and the right weapon for YOU). The recoil in this game is lovely, and is appreciated for its realism. So many games take recoil out, and it's nice to see a game implement it and add a challenge to a generation of games that have become too casualized. There is a campaign in this game, and I cannot comment on it as I have not played it (yet) but it is separated into 6 different mini-stories. I'm so focused on the multiplayer, I haven't gotten to it yet. As a consumer, I am happy with this product and would recommend it at full price....if you want to wait, Black Friday and Christmas deals are around the corner, so I'm sure you could get a good price drop on it.

Awesome, Unique
Awesome, Unique, and worth your time These days, it's rare to see a triple A multiplayer pvp shooter take place in the past, so I got my hands on this game as soon as I could. I have no regrets, Battlefield 1 is one of my favorite multiplayer games at the time being, and it continues to bring me back time and again. The multiplayer is fantastic, fast paced when it needs to be, (spotting an enemy and killing them as fast as you can) and a slow paced when it feels necessary. (Defending your point from intruders.) In my opinion, the gunplay and weapon variety is the games biggest strength. Each weapon feels significantly different from the next, even with guns in the same class that have subtle differences (maybe sound, sway, reload speed) that make them feel unique. It's especially noticeable in the single player; changing your weapon often enough is like eating one candy at a time from your post Halloween pillowcase. As for the maps, they are all highly detailed, beautiful and large, but too much open space on some of them leaves you an easy target for snipers. As for the single player, it is good, even if not as great as hyped up to be. (But it's better than the last two BF campaigns for sure) Before I started playing the thing I wanted most was to see and be in awesome set pieces. I got what I wanted and more. I cared about my protagonist and supporting characters most of the time, and was pretty sad when one died to the sound of tear jerking music. Of the five different stories, (ignoring the five minute intro) all but one have the plot and production values necessary to be adapted into a feature length movie. Right now my biggest complaint is having most of the weapons locked away down the progression tree, something pvp shooters have been doing for too long and need to stop. But fortunately the base weapons are good enough to not make you feel underpowered. I feel like there could be more than five game modes, six if you count operations, and i'm also disappointed battlefield is still charging for map packs. I hate the fact that I have to make this argument every year either with call of duty or battlefield, but paid maps is such an outdated business model, its overpriced and splits up the games player base. There is now way i'm going to pay almost the price of a second copy (technically more than one copy since prime gave me the game for $48, two dollars less) for what should be free content. Luckily, EA has gotten into the habit lately of giving the maps away for free about one year after release, which was the case with BF4, BF Hardline, and Titanfall 1. So, patience is key. I highly suggest you pick up Battlefield 1. If this game is successful, it will show the rest of the gaming industry that pvp games set in the past can be sell, and hopefully soon we will be out of this rut of over saturated sci fi future jet pack games. And its a damn good game in it's own right.

Best Multiplayer War Game. Period.
If you get Battlefield 1 revolution don't buy it used, get it new because you need the redeem codes for dlc, and if they've been redeemed you might as well have just bought the used regular version and bought the expansions separately. There is no point in getting revolutions used. Now my impressions: Where to start? I'll say this: I've been a long time battlefield fan since the battlefield 1942 days and I'll tell you why - they are the only game franchise that has accomplished the ability the capture the epic scale of war into an enjoyable first person shooter. Period. No other game company has done this to my knowledge. Amazing features in a multiplayer game: To really appreciate what they've done you really have to acknowledge what this game features: 64 players fighting in epic scale well designed maps that are modeled after real battles in World War 1. The gameplay includes usable vehicles - tanks, ships, airships, airplanes, trains, motorcycles - mounted weapons - machine guns, flak guns, cannons, artillery - interactive terrain - destructible houses, towers, mills - you can hide inside them including bunkers, trenches. I mean, - you also get classic yet unique abilities with soldier classes like medic, scout, assault, support with actual roles to play in the game - they all play differently enough and has access to different weapons/equipment. No other game has this level of design and detail. Single player: Let's just say this: Battlefield has always been and always was at its heart a massive 64 player multiplayer shooter that favors massive battles over single player campaigns. Nobody really buys battlefield games for single player so if that's what you're looking for this is the wrong game for you as you really do need multiplayer to enjoy this game. With that said, this is my first time seeing a single player campaign in the Battlefield series and I have to say it's not bad at all. The story telling and voice acting is really interesting and it actually prompted me to learn more about WW1. The campaign can get a little repetitive and mundane but it was interesting enough that I never really got bored. You can probably get through the single player campaign in a few days if you play a few hours a day and it really serves as more of a tutorial to get players familiar with the game mechanics and different classes in the game. After completing the single player though it really made me appreciate the harshness of World War 1 and the people involved in it. It does try to get you to understand that War is tragic and not try to glorify the hero like in many of the other games. It tells you right off the bat that you are not expected to survive. It really does capture the gruesomeness of war unlike any other game I've played and it's a great thing to see that you don't play some glorified unlikely hero that can somehow kill hundreds of enemy soldiers like in other games. Well at least that's what the game tries to portray but there are typical scenarios where you're expected to wipe out crucial entities in encampments by yourself which can lead to killing entire encampments in one way or another. I think the campaign is great, not the best, but left an impression on me. Multiplayer: This is really the meat of the game. You go online and play 32vs32 in massive campaigns where your objective is to capture areas and push the enemy back. The game is well balanced and the game doesn't punish new players by overpowering experienced players that have weapons unlocked. Everyone has an equal chance at killing and you don't need to fight to really win, you just need to capture the objectives. And this time around there are some interesting game modes besides the usual Conquest mode. I forget all the modes, but particularly interesting is the mode where both sides are just pushing through the middle in an all or nothing battle where you're either defender or attacker and you have limited troops so if too many soldiers die too many times before pushing through that leads to defeat. That is an awesome mode if you want to see big battles in a small area. There is also an operation mode that can be played for hours and what this mode does is it ties one battle to be next where you see how conquering one map leads to the next map in this grand scale nonstop campaign. It's basically the same gameplay but the different levels being that your next fight depends on your previous one and ultimately decides whether your campaign ended in success or defeat depending on the chain of events. I will have to say though that one disappointment I had with multiplayer was that almost nobody uses voice chat and I was used to being able to type and chat on the pc in the old games - I still can't figure out how to change PS4 party chat back to public squad chat - where the hell is that option?? Now I'm permanently muted because I chose to join PS4 party. This makes you feel like you're on your own even though you are technically a part of a squad in some big battle and that really kills team work. Without teamwork it really diminishes the games true potential to be more strategic based. Level design: The maps are all great and well designed. They have choke point s where players are forced into big fights to take the next area. I like all the maps. They are all the right scale and size if you have enough players. Summary: This game really is great. I was a battlefield 1942 fan and even more of a fan of their modern war mod set in the gulf war era and was skeptical of how World War 1 would look in a game ( I don't typically like World War 1,2 settings and prefer modern settings ), but it was surprisingly well produced. I was hooked on this game for hours in multiplayer. No other game matches the scale of battlefield in first person shooters.

Amazing game
If you're like me, then you'll purchase this game for the immersive, massive, all-out-war that is BF1's multiplayer. 64 players divided between two teams, each trying to capture a set of objectives on absolutely huge maps using everything from horses, to tanks, to airplanes... that's why you buy a Battlefield franchise game. EA has made an attempt to make its single player missions more, for lack of a better word, Call of Duty-ish... but I found single player to be boring and full of poor acting, uninteresting storylines, and unrealistic situations. No doubt there are some of you who will like the single player missions, but I only played them during a BF1/PS4 server outage. As for the early enlister package, I don't think it's necessary... the guns/weapons skins you receive will give you no advantage over other players and you don't even get unique guns; they're the same guns that regular players receive, but with a different weapons skin. The battlepacks are also useless: you do not receive weapons in battlepacks, just weapons skins. The I purchased the early enlister edition is because (1) I'm a sap, and (2) I wanted to play the game three days early. As of the time of this review (26 October 2016), there are still multiple glitches and annoyances with the multiplayer that make the online gaming less than ideal, but overall this game is still worthy of 5 stars. I have no doubt EA will eventually get around to fixing the bugs, I just hope that it's soon!

Buggy Launch
No doubt you have read reviews about the time period this takes place in. But I want to review the actual gameplay and my experience; Firstly, the menus are atrocious for a game this size. I have to join a party through the Playstation home menu, and it's unclear the entire time within Battlefield that I'm actually in a party. You don't have an option to leave a game and take the party with you. You can't edit loadouts within any menu other than in game, which is terrible to me. Within a party, half of the players load into a game, and the other half get's kicked out and has to re-join. At the end of the game, only half of the party actually gets to see the end-game stats. I hope this is viewed as a bug and they will fix it. The loading screens for the Operation maps, (which is their newest game-type which will likely become the most popular), seems like they will get old very fast. There is a spoken introduction from your side about the battle, and I can't imagine seeing this everytime I play, especially if I plan on playing for months and months. As for bugs, I have seen a staggering amount. Player models glitching in and out of walls and the floor. When they do this at death, you can't revive them. Sometimes, when I click the right d-pad button to pull out the syringe to revive players, I pull out my gas mask (up on d-pad) about 10% of the time instead. I have aimed my weapon at players, and my gun won't fire for at least a second or so, which is instant death in this game. Airplanes still don't have a realistic crash physics that you would expect to see, but I can overlook that one fairly easily. I mention these bugs based off my previous experience with my last favorite game: Overwatch. The amount of polish on Overwatch set the bar high for me, which makes Battlefield 1 look that much worse. As for the gameplay, it is fast and refreshing. The guns feel realistic, and are restricting due to the time period, which works really well compared to the other current annual-war shooters. To me, it is closer to last year's Battlefront than Battlefield 4, but I don't seem to have any problems with that. I do feel like it is missing some of the huge mid-game events (Levolutions) that we had in BF4. No huge battleship crashing into an island or huge sky scrappers toppling over. The reinforcement vehicles will crash and burn, and do leave an impressive pile of rubble, but it doesn't strike me as awesome as the previous installments. As always, the aesthetics and soundtrack are top notch, as expected from Dice. I did hear about weather affecting the game, but so far, I have seen nothing but heavy fog rolling in. Might be a PS4 issue, but it strikes me as very unrealistic to get a sudden fog storm in the middle of the desert. Overall, it is a really fun game. But it is so different from what Call of Duty is, that it may not steal away from that crowd as it seemed poised to do. My experience this weekend felt like I was still playing an open-beta, which may affect others as it did me. It was an awesome experience, but so was Battlefront. There is much more depth to this game than Battlefront, but I don't get the feeling that I will be playing this for as long as I feel I will be playing Overwatch. I'm hoping for quick fixes of bugs and the menus, and hoping that DLC won't cost me so much money that I will stop playing by the time they come out. So there is still hope this game can be as great as I thought it would be, but I am not used to the type of dedication from the developers in fixing bugs and balancing gameplay as I have become accustomed to with Blizzard. Sorry to mention Overwatch so much, but I can't help but to compare the polished state of the two at release. This review comes off as generally negative, but only because I have ready nothing but complete positive reviews from around the web, and none of them mentioning what I have seen. So I decided to not get too into all the good things Dice has done right here. I had a blast this weekend, but I do fear that the freshness of the game has got blinders on me right now, and I won't be enjoying how different every match can be throughout the next month or so. Thank you for reading.

The most impressive game ever ruined by poor game balance and lack of depth/content
This might be the most impressive game to be released on console to date wit the best use of PS4 Pro support to date. It is a technical masterpiece through and through. With that said, the game is woefully unbalanced. Not too long after release the game has been rebalanced where the Auto fire Machine Guns got a significant buff. Machine Guns which were experimental at best at the time, now dominate the game to an oppressive manner. The biggest issue is their accuracy especially at range; they aim fully automatic with practically no recoil at sniper ranges. Unless you have a shotgun within 15 feet of the enemy, a machine has the advantage over any other weapon from 3-200m. They can and will land shots consistently from that distance. It has been several months after the patch and it appears this is where the developers will let the game balance lie. Unfortunately, the game has a sparing amount of maps and modes and lacks the depth of other shooters. Planes aside, by about your first five matches after fine-tuning your aiming you will essentially have reached your ceiling with the game. Content wise the game has a handful of maps and about a dozen unique guns with 3 variants a piece. The unlocks are all for weapon skins. It's nice to see that there are not weapons or equipment hidden behind random drops, but does not include any player customizations, reticles, etc. Only weapon skins. Further, the difference between weapon skins is minimal. You will likely have a hard time discern the difference between any skins unless you turn your contrast up. Every skin is a mild brown wood pattern. Loot boxes drop rarely to boot; less than one every 10 30-minute Conquest games. Population appears to be dropping off dramatically due to the issues listed above. Many Battlefield fans have gone back to BF4 in the meantime. Overall it is not a long lasting multiplayer though it is a nice showpiece for Pro owners.

Excellent!
Best Battlefield experience to date! I've played the Battlefield franchise since it was first released and for the most part have enjoyed most of it. I did not enjoy Hardline though, that was too Grand Theft Auto for my liking. The franchise should really be concentrated on the war aspects of the game. Battlefield 4 was good, it returned to some of the older roots but with a twist on the modern battlefield. Battlefield 1 has been redesigned. The story or campaign mode has been updated and I really like the change. Instead of a linear story line that goes from scene to scene automatically, you'll be able to choose from one of four campaigns or stories. This mode is a bit short but that was to be expected. But this isn't a bad thing. Unlike some other shooters that you just blast through, Battlefield 1 was engaging and exciting. The graphics are great and so are the sound effects. I kept catching myself looking over my shoulders at times wondering what the noise was. Best way I can describe is the developers took the story line of Medal of Honor franchise and mixed it with the good parts of Battlefield. End result is a great gaming experience. After finishing the campaign mode, I actually would like to go back and replay it again at a higher difficulty. Multiplayer is huge, this part also has been redesigned a bit from the traditional matchmaking and search of games. This one forces more of a team approach. Some may like it, others may not. I have no issues with it and I think a lot of thought was put into it. I really like how interactive the environments are. Lots of mounted machine guns, artillery and anti air where appropriate. It improved what Battlefield 4 offered. If you are thinking about picking up this game, I would definitely recommend it. It is a great evolution of this franchise. One of the best games I have purchased this year!
