A real quality product and they work!
I was skeptical about electronic deer repellent but I was desperate. We have residential deer and our garden is totally destroyed by the end of May each year. This year the deer came in April when the garden first came up so we had to replant. With the money back guarantee I gave this device a try. The photo of our garden was taken today 6/13/2022! Not only no deer but the device keeps away rabbits and squirrels (and birds) which we have a lot of. The devices are mounted on a white stakes at each end of the garden About the device, we bought the first one on May 12. It has survived numerous storms and days of rain and continues to function. It is water resistant! Second, the battery bank stores a lot charge and can continue to operate even it there is no sun for days. Third, the motion sensor is fantastic detecting objects at 30 feet and has about a 180 degree visibility . We were so impressed that we bought a second one and have each monitoring the garden with opposing views. I have one suggestion to the manufacturer. It needs an extension pole so it can be used in a garden. As the garden gets big, the device needs to extend up to look down into it. I solved this problem by zip tying each to a pole. So far I am very happy. I will write an update later in the summer after more time with it.

Update; Don't waste your money!
I bought this unit to place near a crape myrtle bush planted near the corner of my shed. Last winter, deer mice burrowed under it, pretty much destroying the root system. To my amazement, the bush survived but was set back substantially. The goal is to avoid a repeat. So far, seems to be working well. A few nights ago, a whitetail buck damaged a young red oak by rubbing his antlers on the trunk within 25 yards from our house. I moved the original Hoont unit to near the oak, turning it up to high frequency (with strobe lights) and high sensitivity. So far, so good, on preventing additional activity. I ordered another Hoont unit for the deer mice problem. I have to say that I am impressed with the unit...easy-to-understand instructions, and the only assembly is putting the unit on the supplied stake...two small machine screws. Be certain to charge the dry-charge batteries after installing them by hooking the unit up to a USB port on your computer for a minimum of 24 hours, so your unit is developing full power from the start of use. Afterwards, the solar power should do the job. Update: Several months after installing this product - I bought a total of two - Both have completely, utterly failed me in what they were supposed to do. The first purchased (described above) so unfazed deer mice, that they have honeycombed the area around the crape myrtle, including the area within less than a foot from the alleged "repeller". The other unit was installed very near the trunk of a newly-established red oak (diameter about 3"), after there was evidence that a whitetail buck had been browsing the lower branches, and had rubbed the trunk with his antlers. I installed the 2nd repeller within 30" of trunk, turned it up to "high frequency" (recommended for large animals), and to maximum sensitivity with both audio and strobe light warnings. Result; within a week, the buck had returned, badly rubbing the trunk - down to the white cambium layer - which will cause permanent disfigurement of the expensive tree. These repellers ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WORK, for large or small animals. Please don't waste your money!

Cheap price, convenient and it works (at least so far)!
We love this product! We recently moved to a new home on 2 acres, with about 50 squirrels, and some possum, wandering throughout the property. We did a lot of research on the damage squirrels can do to outdoor furniture cushions, etc.and were victims of squirrel damage at our prior home. Articles ranged from fox urine, to toy snakes on the ground, etc., but most of the reviews were pretty bad on their effectiveness. By dumb luck, came across this solar battery in one article and because of the cheap price we bought two of them six weeks ago. Within one day, the squirrels had moved from the areas where the units were installed, and congregated at other spots of our property. So we bought two more, and the squirrels moved again to the areas where there were no units (I think the distance one device can cover is about 30-40 feet or so, which seems accurate based on where the squirrels started moving to). We bought 2 more a week later and the squirrels are now virtually gone from our property. We will probably end up buying 1 or 2 more to cover outer perimeter of the lawn so possum don't eat some of the flowers. We are totally satisfied with this product. It's almost like a miracle given all of the articles I read, which implied that it was almost hopeless. We also like that the units are solar powered, and so far we've had no problems with any of the units that we have. One reviewer downgraded their review because the "squirrel" setting in the instructions was too low. I agree with that reviewer and it does need to be turned up a notch or two to get the squirrels to move. We also have a golden retriever, and she is not bothered at all with the setting we've used. Plus, it's easy to test at the beginning with your dog in the house to see if they react. I wish the units had a longer range than 30 feet or so, but the supplier is pretty honest about the range. And for the price, plus solar batteries, it's a great deal - in our opinion.

So far so good
I live in in New York City outside of Manhattan. I live in a corner lot with a strip of grass in between the sidewalk and the street. In New York I am responsible for keeping that area of grass cut, relatively clean and maintained. People walk their dogs and let them poop on that area. I have purchased signs telling dog owners to clean up after their dogs and I have seen the owners on camera read the sign and STILL let their dogs go on the grass! I have purchased all kinds of powders to discourage dogs from the area around my house but as soon as it rains the powders are washed away. I purchased 3 and placed them in spots that people would not mistakenly step on them 2 weeks ago. So far I have not seen any dog poop. I have it set to the highest setting for large dogs. It seems like it is doing it's job. My wife has heard someone walking by and complain to someone he was talking to on the phone that the clicking sound the device makes is annoying but I don't care. This is better than stay looking out the window all day trying to catch dog owners (complete strangers in most cases) in the act which may or may not result in a confrontation. If after a couple months it continues to work I would go back in a give it 5 stars.

It works but there are limitations
It definitely works. To save you time I have provided more specific information in the paragraphs below, which I entitled Scenario, Distance, Motion Detection, Radius, Ultrasonic, Flashing Strobe Lights, Customer Service, and Rating. Scenario: There's a small city-owned trash dumpster near my home and people like to feed stray cats there. The cats use my yard as their bedroom, bathroom, and playground. It wasn't unusual to find 5-8 cats in my yard throughout the day/night. The house is surrounded by a combination concrete and wrought iron fence, which is 5 feet high with the first 18 inches being concrete and the remaining height consisting of wrought iron, which the cats can walk through or jump over -- the fence is no deterrent. Distance: Using a tape measure, I determined the maximum detection distance is about 30 feet. Motion Detection: At the maximum setting, the motion detector activates at about 30 feet, but it won't activate if a barrier, such as a fence, glass, wall, etc., is between the device and the entity initiating the motion. Radius: The detection level from right to left is approximately 130 degrees and it's conical. If the motion is behind the device or to the side it won't work, it must be within about 130 degrees and even within the detection range, it won't detect motion if there's a barrier such as a fence, wall, glass, etc, between the device and the entity initiating the motion. Ultrasonic: It's not ultrasonic but it's not loud either. I can't hear it at a distance of 30 feet, but at about 15 feet I can hear it. It's a very low clicking-type sound, which is activated when something enters the range of the motion detector. It's not annoying and it confirms that it's working. Flashing strobe Lights: The lights lags behind the motion detector activation. When the motion detector activates, first the motion detector turns a blue color and within about a second or two, I can hear the "ultrasonic" clicking sound. A couple of seconds later the strobe lights flash . Customer Service from the Seller (Four Corners Dist.) and the Developer (Hoont): Prior to receiving the device I asked Four Corners Dist, via an email through the Amazon.com website several questions regarding the distance/radius/strobe light, and I got a response within 24 hours, but the answers were generic and essentially echoed that on the Amazon.com website. I then contacted the developer (Hoot) by visiting their website and using their online email to ask similar questions to the ones I asked the seller. Hoont didn't respond. Rating: It worked right out of the box, without the batteries being charged. I'm an American residing overseas and I received the device via Amazon Global in 10 days, at no additional postage charge. It's been a week and instead of seeing multiple cats in the yard throughout the day, I saw one cat on the 2nd day, and one on the 3rd day, but they didn't hang around. I haven't seen any cats in the yard since then, but I do see them (in fewer numbers) outside the fence. As previously noted the motion detector can't penetrate the concrete fence and it isn't pointed toward the fence, but it still seems to somehow be deterring, but not completely scaring off cats in that area. I am considering buying a couple more and focusing them on the dumpster outside the fence, but the problem is that the device doesn't have a hook to hang it from a fence or tree; it comes with a stake which is placed in the ground. That's a problem because the solar panel needs to face the sun, so without a hook it can't be attached to a tree or fence. If the developer provided better customer service, instructions, and more insight regarding the radius/distance/etc, and if it came with a hook as well as a stake, l would have given it 5 stars. Update: heavy rain caused 2 of these devices to malfunction, they are now useless, so I am changing the ratung from 4 to 3 stars because drvices on the garden/yard should be weather proof.

This item seemed to work at first but was actually useless against raccoons.
At first this product seemed like a dud, but now the feral cats are no where in sight. My next door neighbor feeds feral cats and they were making themselves at home in my yard and leaving me "presents." The morning after I installed it I saw a cat drinking from my small pond, very close to the unit. Every time it went off she looked up , but didn't seem bothered at all. So I thought that was $50 down the drain. I adjusted the sensitivity to a higher setting and put the unit on a small hill so it would detect movement better. After that, the cats have been staying away. I am impressed. Twice I saw a cat walk in my yard and then turn around a walk right out, before activating the sensor. I am guessing they had been blasted by it and decided not to take a chance. It's been less than a week at this point, so I will update this if anything changes. It also worked fine after spending the night in a torrential down pour. I thought for sure it would be filled with water, but it just kept working. Update 2023 I am so sorry I gave this a good review. Any seeming benefits from the product were very short lived. I eventually realized that the animals that were causing the most problems were racoons and not cats. The racoons only came around at night so I rarely saw them. But it turned out that they were shredding my water lilies, and the device had no effect on them and proved to be worthless. It continued to flash, and I presume emit ultrasonic noise, but the critters were not affected. I have to cover my pond with plywood at night to protect the plants now.

It’s a win!
These are wonderful. It’s keeping rodents, I don’t know if it is mice or squirrels, from eating my garden. At my previous house it kept the deer out.

Not Effective for Deer
Our white oak tree is dropping a prodigious amount of acorns this year. Probably the most I've seen in the past 25 years. And, where there are acorns, there are deer. A lot of them. Every night. After reading many of the reviews, I was cautiously optimistic that I might be able to curtail our deer infestation by using these. I purchased three, charged them fully before use, and then placed them in our front yard. As per the instructions, I set them to the correct frequency, H+, so that in addition to the ultrasonic sound, the LED strobe light would go off as well. I set the motion sensor to 6 which I guestimated would be about 20 feet since 7 is approximately 30 feet. When the deer arrived, the motion sensor worked great! Went off like a charm. The deer paused, momentarily, and that was the extent of it. They just kept going. We watched as they ate while standing right in front of the devices with the lights flashing! At one point, some deer were even lying down...right in front of the device...as it continued to flash! These may work for other animals but, as a deer deterrent, for us, worthless. I'll be sending them back today.

Doesn’t stop cats. Bought two and one was DOA
Was hoping it would stop cats. It doesn’t. Also bought two of them and one was dead on arrival. Too expensive to shop back overseas in a pandemic so we just ate the loss.
