Breaks the mold for DSP tuning performance
The good: big speaker, DSP tuner locks on to stations tenaciously, simple controls, takes more common AA batteries instead of larger sizes. Somehow mutes background hiss better than my radios with full digital tuners. The bad: dial frequencies are vague, glow-in-the-dark portion is just the center stripe, not the numbers. Headphone jack doesn't accept normal headphone plug. You'll need a mono to stereo adapter to hear the mono sound out of both headphone speakers. Bottom line: Excellent radio that now lives in my kitchen for background music, uses hardly any power and gets every station my larger stereo does. Bonus tip 1: plug into AC power even if you don't need to as the power cord is used as a secondary antenna and pulls in more stations this way. Bonus tip 2: There is a microswitch inside the AC power port that prevents battery power from being used if the cord is plugged in. Make sure to remove the power cord completely from the unit to run on battery power.

Best Radio Available for cheap
This the best radio I've ever owned. Sounds good. Batteries last forever, and it stays tuned. It NEVER loses a station. It functions like an old-style radio but is really high tech in its performance. I've owned it for years and it never fails. There is nothing like it out there. Who wants to set digital stations. I hate that especially when I have to go through the tedium of resetting them. No thanks I've owned enough digital radios to know how good this Panasonic really is.

Great volume capacity for the size, good FM sound quality
I was looking for a radio—and just a radio—to play in unison with another radio as I shuttle back and forth between rooms at home. I didn't want to go down the Bluetooth road, plus I was looking to have that small portable radio you are supposed to keep handy in case of power outages and such. This seemed like the no-frills unit to go with. And no-frills it certainly is. The scale on the analog tuner is kind of crude, plus I am used to reading digital-tuning displays by now, so I had another radio on to verify what station I had tuned into. If you want to set the radio to a certain station to get ready for a power outage, you, too, might want to make sure. The single most impressive quality about this radio is the speaker-volume capacity. It belies the overall small size. It was engineered to deliver with efficiency, and you don't have to turn up the volume dial much to get a sound that carries. The FM sound quality is good: full-bodied and at the same time crisp and clear. I guess that's why I was all the more disappointed by the AM sound quality: it is really flat, and the signal-to-noise ratio could be better as well. The FM reception quality is a mixed bag. You often have to move the unit around, as it seems very sensitive to interferences (most noticeably when I sits right by, of all places, my computer!). It doesn't help that the antenna can only be adjusted to the left or right side, not 360° (like a joystick). Granted, re-positioning the unit is not too hard, small and lightweight as it is. AM reception quality seems somewhat more consistent. What does help is the LED that lights up when you are tuned in precisely (FM and AM). All in all, this seems like the small, sturdy, no-frills radio I was looking for—not just a reasonably good supplemental option but also the fallback device you want to have ready for the next extreme-weather event.

Everything
I bought this radio to play AM talk radio in my office, I bought this and a much more expensive CC Crane EP Pro radio so I could compare them. First off, the EP Pro is a well built unit and sounds like a much larger radio I was 99% sure this would trounce the $25.00 much cheaper looking Panasonic. Boy was I wrong, no matter how I positioned the EP Pro the reception was not very good, I even tried it later in the evening and at night, zero difference. The Panasonic was a different story, no matter what I did with that radio the reception was perfect, not just good; PERFECT! As I said going in I thought the EP Pro would be the winner, not even close, the Panasonic was the clear winner at 25% of the cost, do yourself a favor and buy the Panasonic, you won't regret it.

A must have
My sister purchased the first one for me to have just in case the landlord in my state does not provide maintence to power grid and we go into another frozen state (with no POWER)... This radio is perfect radio. Comes with a cord for electrical outlet and you can use batteries. When the batteries are in and the it is plugged in no issues, but when the cord is removed from the outlet the batteries kick in. The other is in the garage so I can listen to my baseball, football games when I am working. Has a clear crisp sound on either FM/AM. Get one a enjoy.

Good sound in a simple radio
I just had to return 2 Sangean radios for service on a malfunctioning power button, and was looking for a battery and AC portable radio. Read a review of this Panasonic RF-2400D on RadioJayAllen, and decided to try it. Very good value for the money. Nice sound for NPR programs. No issues with tuning. Portable. Easy to use. Very direct. Would buy again.
