Excellent and effective; not torturous or cruel
First of all, if you've not been trained on how to use a Herm Sprenger collar, please don't write a review. These collars have a very specific use with very specific implementations. Find a reputable/certified dog trainer who uses this and first assess if needed for your situation. If needed, consult and get guidance. Important to understand before using: 1) know how and WHERE it should fit on your dog's neck 2) do not use until you've been trained 3) this is typically used as a training tool to get to a behavioral goal 4) this should not be used as a collar for a casual walk When fitted property, a corrective tug will cause collar to wrap evenly around neck, with prongs pressing simultaneously. There should not a single point of "poking." This can be an effective tool for training. Other tools for training are treats, Martingale collars, hand signals. That said, and if used correctly, this is an effective "nudge" to your dog on which behaviors are not tolerated. For our use, our doggo was not good on the leash because we had allowed certain behaviors without realizing how damaging it was for his social life (and ours). Our bad. We have been in training for other "cute" things, like "paw" or "shake", "roll-over", "sit", "lay down", "stay", and "leave it." We should have spent more time on a foundation which, for us, are "heel", "come", and "leave it." Working with trainer, we used the Herm Sprenger collar and with expert guidance, have been able to adjust/re-adjust leash behavior in combination with "leave it." We are not finished, but it has been a good, and surprisingly quick, restart for us all. Its "prongs" are rounded and smooth, and the links are sturdy. The collar's length can be adjusted (consult with your trainer on the appropriate length), and the swivel ring was perfect for the first few training walks to implement "heel." Our confused furbub's behavior wasn't interrupted by stopping to untwist the leads or leashes.

Does not seem safe!!
I only buy this brand of collar, but this design has a pinch release that will 100% let go when you dont want it to!

Good collar for pullers
Wanted a prong collar with a quick release. Was too hard to release a prong section every time. So much easier to put on. Does not stop her from pulling, but it isn't as bad as before. Walks are a little more enjoyable now, before I dreaded them. Wish I had tried this collar 4 years ago

Good idea, but ...
Amazing quality like all Herm Sprengler products. But the release is like threading a needle. So I still have to pop a lick to put it on.

Easy to use training collar
I am a dog Obedience Trainer and I recommend to almost all of my students a Herm Sprenger Prong Collar with the Quick Release Snap. The snap makes putting the collar on much easier that any other prong collar. These collars will last the lifetime of your dog and probably to your next dog. They are AWESOME!

It broke away...twice!
If you plan to use this collar, be sure to use a D ring and connect it to another reliable collar. The first time it broke loose, I thought it might have been my fault. I was in a rush to get it on her and thought I didn't clip the quick release very good. But the second time it happened, I was very careful and tested it before we started our walk. I have a belgian malinois with a strong prey drive. Both times she was lunging for a rabbit. The second time she went around the block 3 times before I could get her to stop. This is not a reliable collar. I have only used it 4 days. It broke away twice. What I did like was it's smaller footprint on her neck. The 2.25 seemed to be a good size for her. I have had any problems with my 3.0 collar and the quick release. Unfortunately, I don't trust it and will be sending it back.

Exactly what I expected - good product
Good product, exactly what I expected. Closure is helpful for those with hand issues, easy to open and close. Effective for my puppy.
