Professional CFexpress Type B USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Reader, Up to 1700MB/s Read, Designed for CFexpress Type B Cards (LRW550U-RNBNU)

Seems to work very well in my iMac desktop and MacBook Lappy. Transfer speeds are pleasantly fast using the usb 2 to usb c connection. I have had overheating issues with some cf Express B card readers using the double ended usb c connections with Mac systems. This one does not overheat or get overly warm when transfers are taking place. This unit is not heavy but it has some heft so it stays put on my desk without getting in the way of anything I am doing. I am finding it to be a solid purchase that works very well. I am a photographer and transfer hundreds of images at a time an have had no issues thus far.

The newer, faster memory cards need a newer, faster card reader. This is the one. It’s well made, works well, and is reasonably priced. Downloading 45 megapixel images into Lightroom is fast and easy. Older cameras and cards require another card reader. My computer has the necessary number and kinds of USB ports for a set of two card readers, this one and a two slot reader for other kinds of cards. Some may prefer a multiple slot reader that accommodates all camera cards, but this setup allows higher quality, specialized readers to match one’s needs. If you have upgraded to newer camera equipment and need a card reader like this one, buy it without reservation. It’s a very good product.

I'm a six-time Olympic photographer and author of multiple books on photography. I have used Lexar products in the past and they've been very good. However, this Lexar CF Express reader is perhaps the worst card reader I have ever had, bar none. I had to take it on the road on an international shoot and unfortunately I got back after the return window, or I would have returned it. It grinds and grinds and won't display the image contents, and I've tried it on three different computers. I've used various CF Express cards with it, and they all do the same thing. I've finally (after more than an hour trying to access about 300 photos) gotten it to download them, only because it was the only one I had with me at the time and had no choice but to wait. I ended up paying top-dollar for another reader while in a foreign country, and vowed never to use that one again. It was a TOTAL waste of money. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with this reader and I'm inclined not to use Lexar products again. I guess my only recourse is to send it back to the manufacturer to see if it is defective. I bought this because I thought I was buying a name-brand, reliable, fast reader, but that's not the case. Ugh.

Nice and sturdy. Super fast transfer speeds and reliable. Even accidental edited Lightroom photos directly on it while it was hooked up and worked like an ssd with my CF Express type B hooked up to it. I just wish it was compatible with my Xqd cards as well

Blazing fast speed if you have the right port on your computer. Works fine with other brand cards, no issues with heating up. My only complaint is with the ridiculously short USB cable. I don't mind paying for quality, but when I do I expect the accessories to be quality too. Lexar is robbing us with this tiny 12" cord.

Crazy fast - close to twice my ProGrade card reader! You won't see full card speeds (some do over 1700 read!) but this dramatically improves my workflow none the less. Build quality is solid but not quite ProGrade level. It would be awesome to have an SD reader and be magnetic base as well (like the ProGrade). All that said either is great but this is worth it for the speed alone without the thunderbolt premium.

Using it with a SanDisk Extreme Pro® CFexpress® Card Type B 512GB Huge raw files from my R5 transferred in the blink of an eye. • Grippy underside • nice textured surface on top • useful backwards compatible USB/C cable I wish it could be a bit smaller but overall I'm very happy with this purchase.

I got the CFexpress card reader after not being happy with other (cheaper) CFexpress readers. Images transfer very quickly, which is a major point in its favor. It's a bit bulky, compared to cheaper card readers (looks very much like a mouse) but that seems to help it dissipate heat faster. Fast CFexpress cards create a lot of heat when transferring images. This reader gets warm, but not hot. So far, I'm very pleased with it.

Great reader

This is a really fast card reader. My friend has the dual CF and SD version and it isn't as fast. I use it with Sandisk, Prograde and Lexar CF B cards and it's lightning quick to download on my MBP.
