Mini Weapons of Mass Destruction 3: Build Siege Weapons of the Dark Ages

I thought this book series was hilarious and I NEEDED to get a handful of these for my loved ones this year for the holidays. Where were THESE when we were tiny kids?? haha! They are a great time for anyone wired like Us brainiacs! ^__^ I recommend to anyone creative or just outright Strange like us! It's a good time!

If you want to get the child to enjoy building and thinking and off their phones.. this is the funnest way...be prepared to search for the stuff needed... it's great. We love it. I am constantly saving stuff just in case he asks.... Grammy... Do you have...???

all john austins books are good for the hobbist/tinkerer who likes build stuff a bit on the dark side. Theres several projects I'll be building for the grandkids much to the annoyance of their parents. :)

This was a Christmas gift for a 12-year old boy who is not mechanically inclined (and neither are his parents). We've built two weapons so far - the Card Box Catapult and the Pen Ballista - and they both launch their projectiles a solid 20 feet before hitting the wall with a satisfying thud. The designs can withstand our less than precise execution and still work great. My son's New Year's resolution is to make all the weapons in the book, so he's definitely impressed.

A nice book on making mini weapons

My son (11 yrs) was interested in this book, I purchased it for his Kindle. It was a great purchase as he actually spent time looking through it, READING it and then wrote, BY HAND, a list of supplies he needed to begin building "mini weapons". He spent all day Saturday building, not playing video games or watching TV so, for us, it was a great purchase. Some modification was needed on some designs to actually make them work but, that was a good exercise in problem solving. This is boyhood!

Great step by step directions. Great illustrations. Very nicely written. Great for active kids!! I know my kids are going to enjoy this book. So many great projects! Don't know which one we will do first!!

My son got these books, and my house has the niftiest assortment of tooth-pick shooting cross-bows, skewer shooting devices, etc. Many of them work quite well. My son finished a bow made from plasticware, and loaded a shish-kabob stick into it, and aimed into the next room: the "arrow" flew great, then I heard the "thunck". I said, "did that stick into the wall?" He said "yeah." I said, "cool, now make yourself a target, unless you want to learn how to paint too."

Great for mini projects

Good quality book. Uses easily available materials. No tools except scissors. We used tape to reinforce connections. Not perfect but stimulates thought to overcome problems.

He's driving us crazy asking for lolly pop sticks, pegs from the washing line, used permanent markes, but he's having a great time making the different "weapons". And they work !! Recommend it for a young boy or girl keen to build something that actually works
