Product Description Safely clear "tea colored" pond water. Activated carbon is very effective at removing dissolved organics from pond water, such as stains and discoloration caused by leaves and organic debris. Activated carbon is also great at removing harmful chlorine and chloramines caused by tap water. Typically 4-6 lbs. will treat 1,000 gallons for 2-3 months. Each 9 lb bucket comes with one mesh bag. Directions First, fill the included mesh bag with 9 pounds of Activated Carbon. Then, remove any carbon dust accumulation by rinsing the bag thoroughly in a bucket of pond water that does not contain chlorine. Never wash carbon with non-treated tap water. Finally, place the filled media bag into your waterfall filter skimmer or in an area with high water flow. For ponds up to 500 gallons, use 2-3 pounds every 2-3 months. For ponds up to 1,000 gallons, use 4-6 pounds every 2-3 months. For ponds up to 1,500 gallons, use 6-9 pounds every 2-3 months. For ponds up to 2,000 gallons, use 8-12 pounds every 2-3 months.
