I’d call melling, I bought the set last year to replace the failed Ford ones. A year later, no issues they seal right to the block and are self adjusting to chain tension. They’re worth the dough. Melling makes great aftermarket parts. Check out their oil pump replacements if your are doing the timing job on your 5.4 3 valve!

Q: Are these the new design? The seals are very prone to failing on the original design.

Not necessarily a new design, but these are a new replacement for the original plastic ones. These melling cast iron tensioner are by far the best. I always order melling parts. You should definitely get these tensioners and the melling m360 oil pump.
