Whats the difference between the doorbell with the chime unit and the doorbell with the homebase ?
is the chime provided by the unit that has to be attached to a router? And is there a distance limitation from the unit to camera?
Is there any benefit in buying this wireless 2k video doorbell with the home base versus buying it with the chime? Not sure if I need a Homebase?
does this work with google

Great!

Easy to install, works well, good video quality.Much better than my previous Ring doorbell as we don’t have to pay a subscription. The battery life is much better too as I’ve only needed to charge it once in 5 months.I’m able to look back through 30 days of footage so the storage capacity is fine for my use.

Great doorbell, much better than our old Ring Gen 1 bell.

This is WAY better than our old Gen 1 Ring Doorbell (which failed after 18 months due to swollen battery failure).Battery lasts about 3 - 4 months per charge whereas the Ring doorbell used to only last about a month even when brand new!No subscription charge as the data is held on sd card in the chime and the video / motion detection is good.Only criticism is that it can be sometimes slow to connect via mobile app when on mobile data.

NOT WITHOUT ITS TEETHING PROBLEMS BUT GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE

EDIT:I have changed my 3 Star rating to 4 because of ANKER's good customer service.Since writing my original review, our eufy doorbell battery deteriorated within the first week of ownership and after charging, barely made it through the night even on the most conservative of settings. After reviewing the product, eufy ANKER reached out to us. I can't fault their customer service and after they looked into the issues that we reported to them, they gave us a replacement doorbell which is so much better (so far after 17 working days the battery still shows it has 93%).So, I urge you, if you are experiencing the same battery life issues or any other issues for that matter, then contact them via the Amazon messaging service and tell them.I know there are other people who have had battery issues with their device, but there is also a lot of happy customers too. Contact the seller.ORIGINAL REVIEW:In the past we have had basic wireless doorbells with a plug in chime and a push doorbell with no camera. We saw this eufy video doorbell was on offer and so we thought we would give it a try. I'll start with the Pros: a nice, solid doorbell with pretty good video quality, quite classy looking, the chime base has an SD card for storage of any recorded events so there's no need for a Cloud Subscription (although you can opt for this if you wish). Storage is 16GB and so holds quite a bit. We wipe any recorded events after each day, which you can easily do from the eufy App. Night vision isn't bad, although obviously not as clear as day time. You can set sensitivity levels on the Motion Detection so it doesn't activate at every little thing and record someone over the road walking their dog etc.Cons: Setting the devices up is relatively easy, but definitely do as other reviewers have said and register the Chime Base FIRST. This is done via the eufy App from Google Play Store or the Apple Store. Be aware you need to then Register the actual Video Doorbell as if it is a separate device. Instructions are via the App and you follow the onscreen prompts. This is where it went a little awry! The instruction prompted us to 'Name Your Device'. It rejected every single name we put in! We even tried a name with no punctuation and no spaces, but NO! It wasn't having any of it. It just came up with an error message 'Set Failed!' It was so frustrating! A little Googling brought me to a site that came up with a tip of how to get around it. It seems many people with Android devices have had the same problem. You can't Skip that stage and so it just has you running around in circles, but if you 'CANCEL' the registration process at that point, it then takes you into the App and there you can see your devices. It seems to put in the Serial Numbers under the 'Name' section. It's then at this stage you can rename the devices with no problem. Because I had to cancel the registration process, I was a little concerned that Set Up hadn't been completed, but all seems good so no harm done! People were reporting this problem back in 2021 though and it STILL HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED!Also, the App is quite flaky! You change settings on it and 'Confirm' them but then when you go back into that section again the settings have reverted back to the original ones. It seems to keep chosen settings if you quit out of the App straight afterwards.Don't assume the battery usage symbol is correct. I was checking it and it said I had only got 28% battery power but when I went in later in the day, it had jumped up to 43%! How does that even happen?Eufy claim that the battery lasts about 6 months on a full charge with normal usage. It doesn't. Our battery charge lasted about a week, so nowhere near 6 months. To be fair, we were playing around with it to begin with, trying to get the Motion Detection sensitivity set up to suit our needs and so it may last a bit longer than a week but I really can't see it lasting 6 months. We also had an issue with the supplied USB Cable. The first time we charged the doorbell, it wouldn't charge past 60% (which is what it had been factory set to). Good old Google - yes, you guessed it! Other people have had the same issue. The suggestion was to try another USB Cable. Bingo! It worked and it charged up in no time. I was going to contact eufy about the supplied cable as I thought it was faulty but I tried it in my wife's kindle and it charges that up fine (so we've just swapped the cables). Not really good enough though is it? If the cable is supplied with the Doorbell it should WORK with the Doorbell. Teething problems aside, it's not a bad little device and it is working. Would I buy another Video Doorbell if this one packs up? No, I wouldn't. I'd stick to my basic, run of the mill wireless doorbell.

Useless. Avoid

What a nightmare product. I owned this for 2 days and I am returning it because no one needs to put up with the nonsense it put me through.Initial set up was not fun. Instructions provided do not give you step-by-step what needs to happen and in what order. The quick start guide is not quick, it is a booklet about half an inch thick and in multiple languages, but the english part was around 20 pages long. And the section on how to install the doorbell and chime is literally a single that says “download app and follow instructions in app”. What?So I tried to install the doorbell first I mean it makes the most logical sense, right? As I attempted it, the Eufy app suddenly alerted me “please have a Homehub or a door chime confirmed first”. I had to install the chime first??!Then I installed the chime, that was the easy part. Next I attempted the doorbell again and it finally got past the original alert and started to connect, but after 5 minutes it threw this at me: “failed to connect. Make sure the Homebase is on”. Pardon??!I was worried that I needed to buy a Homebase for around £150 to get this blasted doorbell to work! Why have a message that said “make sure Homebase was on”? The item description never mentioned this so I assumed it was a standalone. Many attempts later and after much Googling, I decided to reset and start again, so I setup the chime first and then got to the doorbell. At this point the chime did something it didn’t do before, and that was let out this high frequency squeal - the same that scares away rodents and cats - and the doorbell actually responded with a crackle. Later it connected the doorbell successfully. Hurrah I shouted in elation! No need for a Homebase!I installed the doorbell to my front door and checked that the video feed was working, and that the chime chimed when the button was pressed, and I even got it linked to my Amazon Echo Dot to whimper at me when someone was at the door. After that was done, I went to bed.The following day more headaches ensued. I checked the video feed again and it was taking a rather long time to connect, and before long an alert came up that said “P2P connection failed”. I beg your pardon??! P2P?No matter what I did, I could not get the stupid thing to show me video of the outside. It turns out you connect the chime to your wifi, and the chime in turn connects to the doorbell to deliver your video feed to you. The chime acts as a mini Homebase with limited AI functionality and has the memory card to store the videos, hence why I received that P2P error message. The stupid thing had to connect to the doorbell before it would stream it to us, like a dodgy celebrity endorsed TV commercial telling us to free the equity in our homes. After much more Googling, I moved the chime to different areas of the home, moved it closer to the front door, updated my router to only use 20MHz bandwidth for my 2.4GHz wifi, nothing worked! But one thing did work though… and that was for me to take the blasted doorbell into my home. While it was outside, for reasons only the Eufy engineers can fathom, it would not allow any type of P2P connectivity between the chime and doorbell. But once taken into the home where it is warm and cosy, suddenly the doorbell sprung to life and allowed video streaming to take place. You’re probably thinking “ah, it must be interference due to the number of walls and the door”, but I assure you that the wifi signal is strong even outside. In the Eufy app you can check the chimes’ WiFi strength connected to the router and the doorbell, and both for me were at maximum levels. I even had the video running active in the app, took the doorbell outside and installed it then closed the door and the video was still running fine for 5 minutes. But the moment I stopped the video stream and tried to start up a new stream… “P2P connectivity error”From that I knew it was not a signal issue but a Eufy issue. I had all latest updates but I could not get the blasted thing to work, so I submitted an Amazon return. Say what you want about Google’s Nest doorbell and Ring’s doorbell, at least they are reliable. Avoid this at all costs! Eufy makes some good security cameras but they are terrible at combining it with a doorbell.
