Hoover Linx Bagless Stick Vacuum Cleaner, Lightweight

This is a great little vacuum. It is the corded version of the Linx cordless vacuum. Light and easy to use, it has great suction, a really easy to empty dust cup, and a brush roll that does the job on low pile carpets. I've had this vac for about a month and so far it is working out great. I love the super easy to empty dust cup, it is hands free, just touch the button and the bottom of the cup opens and all the dirt falls out, I don't have to use my hands to free the dirt and hair or a brush to clean out the dust cup. The cord is 20', so you can get a lot of area done before having to change plugs. I originally wanted to get the cordless version of this vacuum, but after reading the reviews of the battery life and comparing costs, I decided on this one, and I'm very happy with my decision. We live on a farm and have five dogs who come in and out of the house regularly, so dirt and hair are a real issue for us. This vacuum really does a great job on the dog hair and dirt, it is so much easier to use than my old upright, so light and easy to get into tight places without having to move heavy furniture. Would highly recommend this to anyone needing hard floor cleaning and low pile area rug cleaning. I don't have heavy pile carpet so I can't comment on it's ability to clean that, but on bare floors and low pile area rugs it is great.

I own 8 vacuums, this makes it 9 now. I have never been so happy with a vacuum like I am about this one. I purchased it to replace my Eureka quick up cordless ones (I have two because one of the batteries died and a replacement battery would have cost the same as buying a whole new vacuum, so I went with a whole new vacuum.) Battery powered stick vacuums will all inevitably die. I was contemplating going with a higher end cordless vacuum but I am sick of spending money on cordless machines just to have the expensive batteries fail down the road. I mainly used my cordless sticks to pick up small things and dog hair off my hardwood floors in the kitchen, dining, entry area and minor quick sweepings in connecting carpeted areas to include door mats. Towards the end of their battery life I have only been getting about 4 minutes of decent power then they trickle down to basically just making noise and pushing stuff around the floor. I have to give the Eureka vacuums some credit though....they are fun to just whip off the charger and do a quick cleanup and put right back on the wall. They have served and will still serve that purpose very well. This new Hoover is about the nicest vacuum around for the above purposes and more. I now sweep the same areas in my house plus carpeted stairs and other carpeted rooms. It is able to pick up double the amount of debris that my Eureka's could and of course it never dies. Some reviews complained about the cord being too short but I feel it's perfect length because it lets you vacuum a good sized area and isn't bulky or in the way at all. I have even compared it to my workhorse vacuum, the Dyson DC15 animal. I haven't enjoyed vacuuming around like I have with this one in a long time. The wheels are all soft rubber which makes it safe for my wood floors and the brush is powerful enough to handle serious carpet cleaning. I really don't think I'll be using my Dyson that often anymore. Emptying is really easy since there are no filters, just hit a button and the debris falls out of the canister. It's a quiet machine with a very good amount of power and has excellent side suction. My old standby upright is a Riccar Vibrance, and this mini upright is just about as powerful and only a fraction of the size with no bag. I also like the fact that is can stand upright on it's own in the corner of our laundry room. The only complaints that I have are minor and some people probably wouldn't even notice them. One is the handle. It has a sort of sharp plastic edge on the grip that I will have to smooth/file down...not a big problem at all. The second minor thing I can complain about is the swivel feature of the head. Mine is a little stiff, so if you turn it to one side to make a turn, you have to give it a little effort to straighten it back out. I am thinking that it will probably loosen up a bit down the road. There is one third complaint I forgot to mention, and that is that it came with no user manual. I order hundreds of products a year and this is the first one that had absolutely nothing in the box except for packaging materials and the product...and it wasn't opened previously...I don't need it but it's just a little weird. I have had this vacuum for just a week but have put it through some good tests and it really performs. It doesn't happen too often to me, but this is one of those things that down the road I'll probably say, "I should have bought two of these", so I'm ordering another one now. I'm going to recommend it to everyone I know who could use a vacuum. I guess time will tell on the lifespan of this thing, but if it keeps doing what it's doing, it's a winner for sure. Even though I had a couple minor complaints, I'm still giving it 5 stars....and I've never given anything 5 stars. Get one and enjoy.

Loved this vac while it worked! I have two dogs and two cats, and occasionally board dogs at my home, so this vac had its work cut out for it. It's been almost two years since I bought it and today I found that it no longer sucks. I wish it lasted longer, but as I mentioned, we had given it a job bigger than it was designed for so I guess two years isn't so bad for what we paid. I really liked this vac because it's slim and inconspicuous so I didn't feel too bad leaving it tucked in the corner of my living room, and it was fairly powerful yet light and quiet at the same time. It picked up a ton of dust/dirt/hair/fur, but since the canister is kind of small I had to empty it once or twice per room (to be fair, I don't vacuum nearly as often as I should). I guess it slowly lost its suction over time, but I never really noticed a big change until today when it did not pick up anything at all. Thinking back, though, the vac was definitely more powerful in the beginning and then later it required more passes to clean the carpet. This may be due to the fact that we did not clean the foam filter as often as we should have. However, I have a hunch that the thing that finally killed my vac was baking soda. I had sprinkled baking soda over my carpets to help deodorize, and it was after I attempted to vacuum that up that the hoover finally quit. So, I don't know for sure if this is what broke my vac, but my previous vacuum met its demise in a similar situation so I wouldn't rule it out. Bottom line - if you have a light to medium amount of cleaning to do and your floors/carpets don't get too disgusting, this vacuum is fantastic and will probably last you a while. However, if you have a house full of animals/kids and/or don't clean as often as you should, perhaps a heavier duty one will work better for you. *EDIT 8/11/13 - Turns out the thing was just clogged. My husband took it apart and removed a gnarly knot of crud and now the vac seems to work again. Score!

I purchased this stick vac because we were selling our house and 75% of the floors in our house are hard surfaces. I own a Dyson Animal for the carpet, which does a great job picking up pet fur if you have been looking for one of those, but I wanted something light weight and easy to use without extra attachments needed to do the job. Which the Dyson has but are a pain in the butt to have because they don't attach to the machine so you have to put them somewhere in the house; the suction is so strong the vacuum follows you right on your heels! The Hoover vacuum is light weight it allows me to quickly push it around the floor to get all the pet hair and it also picks up crumbs from our messy kids. It is very loud when running on the hard floors. So if you're looking for a quite quick vac, THIS IS NOT IT! It has always been loud, right out of the box. And I did expect it, it's a vacuum and my other is also loud on the hard floor there is no carpet to muffle the sound. So don't expect a quiet vacuum. It will pick up glitter, cat litter, 1/2 inch size pieces of dog food, dried grass clumps, and pet hair off of the area rugs. It doesn't have great side suction, you have to be head on when sucking stuff up but the small brushes along the edge that are supposed to sweep stuff into the suction line actually push stuff away from the base boards so you will have to go back and vacuum that up. But when using this on a daily basis it's not that big of a deal. Our down stairs is the biggest mess, where everyone is coming in from the yard. The pets spend most of their time down there, everyone tracks dirt and grass in from the yard, the cat drags her litter our of her box, the kids mess with the dog food when they are down there playing with their toys, and the dog has his own area rug to sleep on and he sheds big time! The head on it is small enough to fit between the base of the commode (toilet) and the side of the bath tub, the pivot action allows you to get it around behind the commode, too. It does an okay job on the stairs if the beater bar was slightly larger it would do a great job but I did buy it for the hard floors. So now I'll break it down to my pros and cons. Pros: Size is great length is perfect for my 5' 6" frame, weight is perfect for carrying up and down stairs in a tri-level home, and pushing around the house very quickly. -The suction is great for a stick vac, compared to ones I've had that were cord less, so I assume it is from the cord. None the less it's great for picking up everything you want to and somethings you don't intend to pick up. -The specific pivot action is great for getting around objects like the commode in the bathroom, end tables and other furniture that are difficult to move. Cons: The cord could be another 1-2 feet longer. -It's very loud! It's not just the humming of the vacuum on the hard floors but it also makes a loud motor sound that is not an actual mechanical problem it's just from using the brushes on the hard floor. WHICH the directions say DO NOT use the brushes on a hard floor BUT in order to pick up anything other than pet fur you HAVE to use the brushes, so that's a con. -If you bump the vacuum a little too hard the canister will pop off! It doesn't happen often but customers should be made aware of that! So in total, I really like this vacuum because all the pros outweigh the cons. It makes cleaning up daily and right before we have leave for a showing so much easier! This is the vacuum I've suggested to friends that are getting ready to sell their house, too. Get it, it's so worth the money because it actually saves you so much time!

The review that follows this edit was valid when I reviewed the vac at the beginning. It was wonderful and I was delighted. Yesterday, however, the vac stopped picking anything up. There is no suction whatsoever. I tried everything to see if something was stuck but no results. I re-read the reviews and saw that others had experienced the same problem. There seemed to be no point in calling Hoover: they would either have done nothing or told me to bring it to a service man, and there are none in the area. Also, I paid much more for it than it is now. I finally gave up and ordered a different brand of stick vac. I love having one just for quick pick ups, I will never buy Hoover again; I think the brand has gone down hill. First review: I have owned a Hoover Flair for years and loved it. After dropping it quite a few times, however, I needed it a new one (one of the problems was that it didn't stand on its own and fell over). I looked for the same vac, but this one was the updated version. I checked ratings first, but it was not among the rated stick vacs on the internet, so I looked at those first. Then I looked at this vac and decided to take a chance because my last one was so great. Surprise...this one is better. I am almost happy that the old one broke. It glides much more easily over the floors, fits farther under furniture (still not all the way, but enough), stands upright without falling over, is easy to use, and , best of all, still does a great job on both my wood floors and my low piles area rugs. It seems lighter and might even have more suction. The dirt cup is very easy to remove and replace as is the center portion that pulls in dirt. The filter is washable. I am completely happy with my purchase. For any of you who are dog owners, if you have any sort of vacuum which sometimes has that "doggy odor", just sprinkle dried sage or rosemary on the floor, vacuum it up, and the scent is really nice.

I bought this vacuum in early 2012 for use in an apartment in NYC. I was looking for something lightweight, effective, easy to clean (i.e. bagless), maneuverable, and easy to store. I thought about getting a canister model simply because they tend to be smaller than uprights, but since this one was so slim and met the other criteria (and was highly rated on Amazon) I gave it a try. There is a cordless model ( Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner, BH50010 ) available as well that is also highly rated, but I've had too many bad experiences with cordless vacuum batteries degrading over time, and at twice the price it wasn't worth it for me given the size of my apartment. It really is a terrific performing vacuum - no wonder it is still the best selling vacuum on Amazon (as of December 2015). Suction is solid on both hard and soft surfaces. It is very maneuverable - around corners and chair feet. It is small and easy to store, which is great if space is scarce in your house or apartment. It is also very easy to clean - less than 1/2 minute of clean up after a thorough cleaning of my house. I recently bought one for my parents as well since they were looking for something effective that was also very lightweight for hauling up and down a staircase. Their house has a lot more carpet than mine and they have been very pleased with the vacuum as well. Highly recommended.

Well as my title says.... Great lightweight vac. for a fantastic price! I totally recommend this product. Arrive today, and I put it to the test. It picked up cat hair, dust bunnies and more from my hardwood floors, kitchen tile and area rug. My area rug has not looked this good since, the last time I sent it out to clean. This vac. is great for regular cleaning. I have allergies so I do not know if it will survive daily area cleaning but, time will tell. I gave this item 4 stars for that reason. If this product survives longer I will come back for an extended review. On July 2015 ..... After several years of use my vacuum came to an end. But, that being said if you looking for a vacuum to do touch ups no problem. Keep this one as a secondary and get yourself a good primary vacuum. I was able to maintenance this one when hair was stuck on the spin brushes or too much dust collected in the stick. But, when something got stuck in the engine and I could not remove it that is when it died. Is it worth trying to repair it.. I doubt it. Anyway, it is your choice at this point and what your needs. Veds says: Loading... Nov. 29 2013----Update review: Ok, so almost a year has gone by.... In Jan. it will be a year. The vac. has done a great job so far. Even cleaning my home top to bottom. However, that being said 2 cons. 1. The Filter has to be empty frequently while cleaning. 2. I currently need to clean out the sweeper attachment. Hair and dust has attached itself around the rollers and the vac. is no longer working. Nothing is vacuuming into the filter. 3. I am having a hard time to removing the screws from the sweeper attachment. Two of the screws are screwed on tightly. So on that note; this vac. is better for small jobs than large jobs. Furthermore; later the same day: I ask my husband to remove the last 2 screws so I was able to clean out the opening in the sweeper attachment. It was clogged with dust hence, why there was no air flow. And removed the excess hair and dust that stop the brush belt from working. So, it is working as new again. But, as I said if you use this vac. for heavy cleaning it will require maintenance with in a year time. For touch up jobs it is PERFECT. Good for heavy cleaning too.... but, will require more maintenance.

Okay--I bought this in March, about eight months ago, and it malfunctioned in November. You can see the full story below, if you are interested. I checked, and the vacuum was still under warranty. You can search right on Hoover's webpage for a local repair shop, and there was one literally five minutes from my house. The repair shop asked for the vacuum and a copy of the receipt, which was easy to print out from Amazon. The part they needed to fix it wasn't available, so Hoover sent me an ENTIRELY NEW VACUUM--completely free. No shipping to, no shipping from, no service charge, nothing. I had a new vacuum in a week. I used it tonight for the first time, and it's AMAZING. Really amazing. I would have filmed how much stuff filled up the reservoir, but I was embarrassed. :) From tonight's experience, I realize now that it must have had a clog/defect since the first time I used it. Since it worked some, and I haven't vacuumed in eight years (husband insisted on doing it), I didn't realize how well it *could* work, and our beige carpeting hides a lot, apparently. This new one is AMAZING. I can't tell you how much it got up, dust and a ton of dog hair that I didn't even realize was on the floor. It's fantastic. My initial review (based on the story below) was one star. However, duds do happen, and when I realized that I had a dud, the warranty covered everything and was very easy to deal with. No shipping, no cost, conveniently located repair shop. And the replacement works like crazy. I considered giving it four stars due to the initial dud, but decided against it. Everyone makes mistakes, and it's how you recover from them that counts, I figure. Hoover could not have recovered better. My new review is 5 stars. A vacuum that will do everything in your house for $72? I highly recommend it. P.S. Do keep the instructions. You can dump the reservoir, which I prefer very much to vacuum bags, but there are a few buttons to get it out. Not difficult to do, and it's nice and secure when you use it, but the instructions help. I may not have realized, for example, that the center pipe comes out quite easily. If I hadn't had the directions, I would have not realized it removed at all. ================================= I was so excited about this vacuum. I had just separated from my husband and needed something light and not too expensive to vacuum my new house. My new rental had linoleum and carpet, so I thought it would be perfect, one vacuum that could do both. I bought it March 7th. A week ago, in October, it started making terrible noises. The motor got very hot, and I shut it off and called a very nice repairman. He had to take off seven screws to get to the innards, and remove the brush and its belt, and then he pulled out--no exaggeration--at least four full, packed handfuls of dog hair. Now, my dog is a Lab mix. Her hair isn't very long. I also don't vacuum that often, so I would estimate that it began clogging FROM THE FIRST USE. I should have realized what was happening when the reservoir wasn't filling up with a lot of dirt, but I just didn't notice--one woman and one dog didn't track in that much, I figured, when she leaves her shoes at the door. Now, it runs again, but one of the two modes doesn't work and overall its power is damaged because of running it while clogged, even though I did shut it off before it ruined the motor completely. A vacuum ought to be able to deal with one short-haired dog's hair. This one didn't. And if it can't (although why make a vacuum that can't deal with dog hair?), at least make the area that might clog easy to get to. Nope. I'd return it, but I can't. So, I advise you to avoid!

Well have one of these in Florida for my lanai these things suck up dirt really well surprised how much and they work just as well on hardwood. I know people read these reviews all they want to know is how it works where it works how good it works. It works well on hardwood floors or hard surface floors. I works great on carpets as well great suction you would be surprised on your first pass over with it how much dirt your get in the cup. this is meant for light cleaning not really meant to replace your bigger heavier vacuum . You can use it every day if you choose to do so my goal I to have this light one up stairs do my hardwood and area rugs that is it. Before I had a hoover over the shoulder vac heavy and awkward you have to put a strap over your shoulder and not light still have it but hope I do not have to use at all or very little . My only complaint I wish that it went lower to the ground meaning it does not fit under my coffee end tables so you need a dust mop to get under there. And it does swivel but only a little it does not have a full swivel head . So those are my only little complaints . But I over look them because it does such a great job. And is light weight is key. Like when you need to do that quick clean up when someone is coming you want to be able to crab something light and easy so it does not wear you out and has power and does hardwood and carpet. This little gem is great lots of power does the job if there is any thing negative on here they are being picky. It is a low cost stick vacuum and does and amazing job. I have one in Florida was shocked how well it works and I now have one here in Niagara falls Canada .

I have never seen a more powerful and efficient vacuum cleaner of this size and price before. I was most impressed, when I emptied it the first time and I remain impressed every time... I have a pet cat., A hairy one who sheds a lot, but your Hoover gets every hair off my carpets, as well as a lot of dust and minute debris. It is very light, easy to maneuver and store. Mainly, so easy to empty and no filters of any kind. Some things could be improved though. It is a bit too noisy for a small thing like that. It is not so easy to clean out the hair trapped around the rotating shaft inside, but as long as it gets all the hair, that is a small price to pay. Bravo, keep up the good work, and thanks for a great experience.

The corded Hoover Cyclonic Stick Vacuum came quickly (2 days). It was very easy to put together (3 parts). I plan to use it on floors, not carpeting. I tried it on a carpeted area, but it was not as efficient as my regular vacuum. I have only used it once so far, but it picked up dust and debris very nicely. Much better suction than the rechargable stick vacuum that I am replacing. Very easy to empty. Easy to manoeuvre and lightweight (under 8 lbs). The 20ft cord is just right. I am very pleased with this product so far.

Wasn't sure what to expect for a light weight, inexpensive stick vac, but this one is really awesome! It moves well on floor or carpet, doesn't destroy area rugs, has good suction, and does a good job on carpet! It doesn't have tools of course but I would highly recommend this vacuum for main area vacuuming, then you just have to haul out the heavy one once in a while to use the tools to get the corners. Super pleased with this product!

It's a nice light vacuum that sucks stuff up well, but the cord could be a bit longer. 15 feet is not quite long enough to do my hallway without unplugging it and moving it down to another outlet. ETA: It's 11 months on, and the vacuum has been acting up for the last month, and yesterday the motor started to burn out. Smells like burned wires, and was smoking a bit. It was sucking stuff up, I kept the filter clean, and made sure there were no clogs. It is very disappointing, as my last Hoover vacuum lasted us 27 years, and this one didn't even make a year. I'll try customer service, but reading the reviews on here, I don't hold out much hope.
