I've had expensive sewing scissors before, but eventually they do get dull and hubby can't figure out how to sharpen them, so I finally just ordered this pair. I'm left handed, and these work great. It seems so important at times to have scissors that have sharp tips to make tiny cuts into seams or clip threads. I hope these last for several years. The smaller nippers that come with it are nice and sharp as well. Happy with my purchase.

UPDATE: Sadly, I cut through some hidden pins on a group project. My blade has a nick in it. I hope that isn't indicative of the carbon steel?? I may have cut small pins a couple of times before I realized they were hidden inside the project. Yes, I was a little angry about that! I loved these scissors so I am going to buy them again. New scissors are about the same price as getting these sharpened professionally. I need to say right off the bat, I wish these scissors were NOT made in CHINA!!!!!! Why can't a company makes these in the USA, the steel capital of the world at one time. Everything written on these scissors is in Chinese! BUT, these scissors cut like a dream. Sharp, comfortable and cut right to the tip. The length is perfect (10"). They felt heavy when I first picked them up, but now I can tell that is a plus. The weight makes them stable on your cutting surface. I love them and so happy to have a good pair of scissors for left handed cutting. I didn't have many sources to choose from. I am very happy with them and do recommend them. The oil on these scissors was easily wiped off. It was good protection for shipping as who knows how long they would be sitting in a warehouse or container.

I needed some new fabric scissors and was about to get a cheapo set like I usually would, BUT while checking into what I will now refer to as "crap scissors" I was given some adds for similar items. These pair of scissors came up in the adds and I decided to click and read up on them because they were so affordable. I NEVER would have known what I was missing if I hadn't given these a try. OMG, they are so COMFORTABLE in the hand. They have a weight to them which adds to the comfort. But the BEST part of these scissors is THEY CUT THROUGH FABRIC LIKE BUTTER!!! So smooth and actually cuts down on the cutting time because they are SO easy to use and smooth. I couldn't be happier about a pair of scissors!!! I will never buy another brand again! I mean, if I ever need to buy another pair, as these are so quality made, I can't imagine that I'll ever need another pair in my lifetime!!! I'd give 10 stars if I could!!! I am so VERY VERY satisfied with my purchase!!! (Who would have ever thought that I'd get so excited about a pair of scissors....lol....But I am ECSTATIC!!!!)
