This is a loose, fluffy bedding material. I use it for our 6 guinea pigs. When the bedding is freshly laid, they love to lay on it. It's that soft and inviting. In case it's a concern, no the guinea pigs do not try to eat this. I use this litter as a top layer, with Naturally Fresh non-clumping litter as the bottom layer. This pairing can go about 3 days without starting to smell. This litter spreads well and allows for a thin sheet, which is all we need. Quantity is good. I have gotten a couple months of cleaning out of a single bag. The bag doesn't seem to be as heavy as most litters which makes sense given the fluffiness of this product. Overall I would recommend trying this for anyone with guinea pigs.
