Easy to clean up after using
Easy to use, cleans up with water. It will leave brush marks. Covered the rust. So far so good.

Tough As Nails, No Rust but Difficult to Reuse
I love this pain. I've been using it on and off for a decade because it literally smothers rust so it can no longer oxidize. However, I also use this pain when I need a very durable surface, like the hitch hook-up on my truck. The reason they come in small cans is that there can be enormous waste. Let me explain - trying to open the can for the first time is rather challenging. You will no doubt destroy most of the lid's top rim trying to get it off (see picture). Helpful hints: don't shake the paint to mix it unless you want tiny bubbles in your paint job. The manufacturer recommends stirring to mix the pain. Try as hard as you can to keep paint out of the can's gutter. If you don't and put the lid back on, the paint will literally fuse the lid onto the paint can, and you will be unable to remove the lid again, thus wasting the rest of the can of paint. Now you know why it comes in small cans - this can be a one-use-and-discard situation. However, However, I might have figured out how to keep using all of the paint in the can. The key is to use a small brush (I use a Q-tip) to apply the paint to the metal you want protected, which will hopefully keep paint out of the gutter surrounding the can's opening. If you do this, you can push the mangled lid back onto the can loosely, but enough to keep most of the air out. Then place the can with its loosely placed lid into a small zip-lock bag and squeeze as much air out of the bag as possible while sealing the bag. Keep the paint can, now secured in the bag, as flat as possible to keep paint off the lid, which will make it impossible to pry the lid off. Later, you will most likely need a screwdriver to pry the lid off in spite of the above efforts, but doing it this way doesn't seem to dry the paint out, and for the first time in a decade, I've been able to use the same can of paint numerous times. I hope this helps.

Good stuff!
I chose the slightly more expensive black Rust Bullet since my car, a 2000 VW Jetta GLX, also happens to be black. I picked this car up very cheap, partly because of it's appearance - there was a large section on the rocker panel and a somewhat smaller section on the trunklid, as well as several other areas where the paint had peeled off - very unsightly on a black car! Fortunately, VW used rust inhibitors in the metal, because the rust hadn't gotten very deep, even as this car has endured every harsh Buffalo winter of its existence. However, I wasn't going to let a foot-in-the-door opportunity turn into a rust-ravaging nightmare! So, I applied the Rust Bullet (after prepping the affected areas) with an old watercolour brush (for the smoothest possible finish one could expect from a brush, lol!) - The car looks awesome now! The stuff takes awhile to dry, but this allowed what few brush stroke lines there were to completely level off. No one can tell that there was ever a problem! Word of caution - among the other usual precautions listed on the can that one must observe, WEAR GLOVES!! I didn't, and paid the price - you'll wear it for weeks, lol! But I love this stuff, and unlike other rust-converter products I've tried, this stuff does not need to be painted over, if one doesn't see the cosmetic need to do so.

Beautiful smooth finish BUT....
a previous review mentioned how hard it was to get the can open... i had a metal paint can opener, i thought, how bad can it be? it is super hard to get this open....on a 1-10 point scale, this was 12 at least. i basically destroyed the lid getting it open, so how to re-seal the left over paint? thats why i deducted one star. it seems to go a long way, i wouldn't order more than you think you need. the paint looks great, self-leveling as well. just be prepared to fight the lid!!!

The can/lid is toast after opening
The lid bent and lid area of the can were destroyed but I was prepared. I stirred it then poured it into a plastic bottle with a tight lid. The product went on easily on my rusted truck seat bracket. It's very glossy black. When dried in 2-6 hours, I applied a 2nd coat. I used Windex to clean my hands. Gasoline to clean my brush. Just opening the can covered my hands with paint as others noted! I didn't have gloves available. The product dried like a rock inside my plastic bottle. I contacted the QC person at the company and they recommended that I buy a new empty can from Lowes or HD to put the coating in after I open it. I asked them to improve their own can. The following day I had to throw away any remaining product because it all hardened and dried so I actually wasted 90% of the purchased can.
