Excellent fan that does great as an exhaust
This fan is great! It's strong but quiet and it hasn't broken after 2 months of continuous use. I use it to vent air right above my cats' litter boxes and since setting it up the rest of my house has never smelled better! I installed it in an old window (house was built in the 1850s) and it fit nicely with the included foam inserts. I haven't had to adjust anything since first putting it in. My only tiny nitpicks are that after a power outage the fan does not automatically turn back on, and when you do turn it back on the fan defaults to blowing air in rather than exhausting.

Not your college fan
Who remembers the brand and model of the fan they owned in college? NoName. That’s who. And, they write an excellent, hateful review. This is an excellent fan by the way. Although, I just received it. That could change I suppose. I’ll let you know. It’s quiet and definitely does not sound like a tractor. If you invent a tractor that can operate at all times at or below the maximum decibel level of this fan, you won’t be reading this review. You don’t read reviews. You’re too busy spending your money and overwhelmed with letter after letter from the thankful mothers of sleeping babies. I’m painfully aware of how many different ways there are to build a window. Designing a fan to fit perfectly in all of them is an impossibility. In my windows, this fan cannot be installed with the screen in place. And, even after the screen is removed, it doesn’t seat very well (and neither do the foam blocks). However, it looks nice, operates well and is very quiet. A good product in my opinion. Update: I’ve had this fan for almost two years now I think, and, other than being dusty from being used all the time, it’s the same as when it arrived. This fan is awesome. If it will fit in your window, buy it.

Great looking design works well.
Airflow into the room works great and is nice and quiet. I don't understand from other reviews people struggling with the foam spacers. Just put the first spacer in place and push the unit up next to it to hold it in place. The air shutter mechanism was jostled a bit in shipping and the unit made clacking noise when first turned on. This was easily fixed by sticking a screwdriver through the air holes and pushing the shutter up and down until it's aligned again. Works perfect now no noise. Fits great in window with built-in screen. It's nice to know that I can still use the screen to keep bugs out with the unit in the window. My only negative is the suck air out of the room mode does not have a lot of air flow. It's nowhere near as strong as the blowing the air into the room.

Reversible fan, weather resistant
This fan is great. It eld up to being used continuously to blow the heat out of my room and didn't quit until this year, but it still blows cool air into the room and it has good fan speed, blowing quite strong , and was ever so easy to use. I liked the size. Because it was low enough in the window that I could easily look out the. Window still. I just wish that I had gotten the one with a remote.

You’re Paying For Design, Not Fan Blow/Exhaust
I did read all reviews. And I hesitated to make this purchase simply due to cost. But I was hopeful. And knowing some negative reviews are written due to not reading directions or just to be negative I took a leap and bought 2. We need 2. We have wide open air flow in all 4 sides of the home due to being on a 100 acre grape farm. And we live on a huge lake, reviving west winds daily without fail. But we do have an older home where air flow was not considered back in the 50s. Having 2 fans to pull in cool air in the am and exhaust warm air late afternoon/evening is essential to keep the house in our comfort zone. Those $25 box fans at Walmart are excellent due to force of air movement. But they don’t fit in windows and they are beyond tolerable with noise. The $50 dual window fans are ideal as they exhaust and pull in air but not with a switch - you have to manually reverse them, they take up 2/3 of window view and allow rain to enter the home thru the vent. Yes, we can use AC but in our state, the first $100 of the bill is all the fees and the companies have elevated their pricing over 30% in last 2 years. So, we need two fans that bring in the air but also exhaust it to stay within our budget. 1- These fans DO work. We can’t find anything negative to say about that. During a warm day I reversed 1 fan facing west to exhaust warm air and pull in the cool AM air. It was 82 outside, 68 inside. Very comfortable. By midday, it was warming up inside so I started the 2nd fan. It was 86 outside, 72-74 inside. Still very comfortable. In the evening as the sun set, we reversed the air flow of both fans to bring in cool air from the outside. It was 76 outside by 9pm, 68 inside. And by midnight, it was 72 outside, 65 inside. 2- Noise is minimal. You can hear the fan when on. There are 2 settings - low, mid and high. At the highest level the fan is at a comfortable noise level. Can’t hear it throughout the house. Hubby likes it because it’s subtle white noise that helps him sleep. 3- Installation is a beast. The installation of the foam side pieces included with the fan is the worst brain idea of any human I’ve seen in a long time. One would think a designer/manufacturer would incorporate the slide left/right shields to fill the gaps on the sides we see in other larger fans. Nope. It’s multiple sided poorly made foam pieces. And if you ever played with the toy that has shape holes and plastic shapes to fit inside - or the game Perfection - this install process takes you right back there. Inserting the fan into the window takes less than 30 seconds. Installing the foam inserts so they fit right and actually stay in place takes the better part of a half hour. And if you remove the fan completely due to a cold spell for a few days, you will dread having to reinsert it. Hubby got scolded for removing the fan I spent an hour installing. He is now ordered to put a pillow in front of the fan if he doesn’t want the cool air to enter the room. 4- The cost is absurd for this unit. This is a $25 to $30 fan. Not $70plus. You are paying for the slim low sitting profile. There is no remote or Bluetooth option. We are ok with that. But given the force of air flow in and out as far as the motor is concerned, it equates to a small $20 desk fan. We aren’t sure if we are keeping. We need to give it another week or two when the summer weather is at its truest level in temperature. I should also note we bought new but received used, too. Since these do not come from an Amazon warehouse but from a private seller, shame on the seller for passing off used items as new at new cost. Just my opinion.

Form over function
Perfect form factor I was looking for but unfortunately its function is broken. Like other reviewers have stated, for me the switch to reverse the fan from from blowing in to exhausting out stopped working properly. I bought the fan primarily to exhaust. Turning the fan off and then back on would always set the switch back to blowing in which was annoying but something I could deal with. After only a few weeks of use the switch to reverse the fan to exhaust would not work properly. It eventually did randomly switch to exhaust but then would never switch back to blowing in even when powering off and back on. Really wanted this to work but decided to return because of the functional issues. I'd stay away from this one until they can work out these issues. Update after messing with it more... Looks like the issue is that the mechanism to turn the fan direction back and forth is flawed and can get stuck somewhere in between so it's neither blowing or exhausting which may be why a lot are saying the fan is weak because you really can never tell if that mechanism is aligned properly just by looking at it. I was able to manually rotate the mechanism back and forth into the correct positions and the fan does blow and exhaust just fine. It's not great but considering the form factor, I think it's acceptable. All other controls work fine but pressing the fan direction switch now causes the fan speed to change which then can no longer be adjusted with the fan speed switch unless turning the power off and on again. It's a mess. My opinion is that the mechanism to switch from blow to exhaust should have been simply a manual operation instead of electrical. It just doesn't work as intended.

BECAREFUL ---- BEWARE
FIRST OF ALL - have a professional inspect your window before purchase. Not all windows are designed for window fans or even ac units. I was unaware mine were designed with internal rain drains and this thing cause y wall to bow out, flood my livingroom and mold the inside of my walls BUT they do not tell you this in the description they only tell you to measure your window. BUT.... works pretty good for cigarette smoke and fresh air on a cool day BUT at the price point it should come with accordion sizers like standard window fans. it did not dawn on me to seal this thing off outside and in like an AC window unit. WOKE UP TO A FLOODED LIVINGROOM ! this is a pretty decent unit and i like the reverse operation, i just wish i had dual purpose windows because mine is on the bottom and if i could have put it up top it would have worked GREAT for my operation. now i have to trim the foam inserts to fit tite and seal the entire thing with window seal.

Easy install, quiet and effective
I read a bunch of reviews saying how difficult the install was. That's simply not true. Installed in about 3 minutes maybe. On setting 1 you can't even hear this thing which so quiet. Two and 3 levels get a little louder but still much quieter than the old window fans. Exhaust air and air pushing in both very efficient. The look and style of this is very nice and modern. Highly recommend.
