Is this spray or lotion greasy?

Lotion, yes to greasy. It does work very well! A little goes along way. I apply when still wet out of shower.

Do all of the types of applications need to be rubbed into the skin?

No!! Not the spray type (which I use and like very much!). However, there are creams/lotions which, of course need to be rubbed into the skin.
