Can i use this with a lamp that already has an inline dimmer switch? So it can be controlled via the existing switch and the app?

Almost certainly not. It does depend on the type of existing dimmer fitted to the lamp, but if it's electronic, it won't work as you seem to be seeking. The wifi switch will be able to switch the lamp on and off, but the "dimness" will only be controlled by the existing dimmer. There is a very slim chance, if the lamp is very old, that it might have a rheostat instead of an electronic dimmer. If that is the case, it might be possible to set the existing dimmer to max brightness, and then control dimming from the WiFi dimmer, but it's pretty unlikely that your lamp has a rheostat dimmer - I haven't seen one in 50 years.

Does this have power monitoring?

No. It's a voice (Alexa) controlled dimmer switch.

Have double checked everything and this will not connect to wifi any ideas or anything else I can try?

You need to set your router to 2.4ghz

Could I plug a double socket into it and run two sets of festoon lights from it and still be dimmable?
